I only play mana boosting cards if I see my opponet using them or if I'm already ahead in tempo or have a huge advantage.... I use rings they are the best...unless your a wizard and I use battleforge and harmonize and mana crystals with the ring of arcanum

I make my spellbooks compleatly random. I shuffle all my cards once I'm done with that game and replace in availiable slots sometimes I intentionally leave blank places so I utilise more pages in the spellbook

I have played a lot of handicapped (2 vs 1) matches and the fairest way to change the stats is to reduce the 2 mages life by a set amount and giving it to the solo mage... ie 5 life loss to 10 plus gain for solo mage or 25% loss to 50% gain for solo mage.
