General Discussion / Re: Enchantments on Enchantments
« on: April 06, 2016, 10:17:33 AM »
That was how things were done before the attachment system was implemented. The problem is the "attached" cards are analyzed by the Battle Calculator for buffs/debuffs. If the cards are to the side of the table there is really no clean way to do this bit of the work.

We do give the option to turn off the BC and Attachments so you could do that and place the cards to the side of the board.

We have been working on that from an OCTGN perspective. The upcoming release will not add this support in, but the next release should. We are thinking that an attached Enchantment on an Enchantment should splay underneath to the right or left of the target Enchantment.

I do not think that there is an official ruling on this, though there should be (IMHO) before tourney season starts.

A good way to safe forcefield is enchantment transfusion. Even better with another one to move it back when needed again. You can use it without having yourself an action going on.
Also an ET can support you with a second nullify that is moved to you from a nearby friendly creature that is has to be prepared for that after seeking dispel played out yours (and you are not allowed to have tso on you).

-> there are ways to handle those tricky situations.
You can have your FF protected with an hidden enchantment and then the opponent can Seeking Dispel the protection spell. You then can Transfuse another protection spell (typically the same one that was trashed by the Seeking Dispel) back on to the mage or object in question. At least that is how I read what chief said....

You may not attach two Enchantments of the same name to the same object even if one is face up and the other is face down.

Spells / Re: Adramelech's Torment
« on: April 02, 2016, 08:39:57 PM »
Anytime you see the word "target" in card text, like in Adramelech's Torment, LoS is a requirement for targeting. For this spell there is no range limiter.

Rules Discussion / Re: V'tar orbs and Dancing Scimitar

Note  - I've been thinking how useful Whirling Strike can be in some scenarios of Battlegrounds. For example, first strike kills the last guardian, second strike touches orb #1, third strike touches on #2.
With [mwcard=FWI10]Whirling Strike[/mwcard] You have to target 3 different objects, so You can't strike and touch an orb with same attack sequence.
I think they were referring to zones with an Usslak's and two Orbs. You would cast Whirling Strike to land the death blow on the Usslak and then continue on and hit the 1st orb and then finally the 2nd orb.

Events / Re: ADMW Open - OCTGN Tournament!
« on: April 01, 2016, 10:01:23 AM »
If anyone has the time/energy to watch my first match which was against Biblo and comment about my strategy/technique and what I could to improve. It would be much appreciated. It was only my 3rd or 4th time ever using a Priest but I play the Priestess a lot so I have a general sense of what to do. I was able to watch most of the video and listening to Coshade commentate definitely made me feel better as he was very complimentary to some of my strategy but I really would like to get better and taking any advice would be useful.
I would recommend you open a thread on your match, post your book and opening strategy and what you think you did right and wrong, then ask for comments and suggestions. Please have a thick skin, with many players English is not their first language so wording can be lets say course, it truly is meant to be helpful not hurtful. Many of these players are very good at the game.

Rules Discussion / Re: Can you use a Spawnpoint with muti school
« on: March 31, 2016, 05:42:51 PM »
This spell [mwcard=MWBG1J04]Raincloud[/mwcard] costs 3 spellbook points.

Level 1 Air is a 2x cost for the Druid so it costs 2SBP's
Level 1 Water is a 2x cost for the Druid so it costs 1SBP.

Added together for a total of 3SBPs.

If one of the Schools in a Multi School card matches the required school of the Spawnpoint then it is legal to bind it to the Spawnpoint during the Planning phase.

Rules Discussion / Re: counterstrike death
« on: March 31, 2016, 02:28:18 PM »
This was discussed and covered somewhere someplace sometime I am unable to find at the moment. If the Defender with the Counterstrike trait dies (during the Apply Damage and Effects step) it is Destroyed and it moved to the discard pile and as a result it does not get to Counterstrike. On the other hand, a Damage Barrier is something the Attacker has to pass though and is always triggered regardless of the Life/Death status of the Defender.

General Discussion / Re: Arena vs Original - New Player
« on: March 28, 2016, 07:25:01 PM »
Make sure you have a good system for organizing your cards! Not keeping my collection organized by set from the beginning is one of the biggest mistakes I've made as a Mage Wars player, especially now that I've started playing Academy as well as Arena. Organizing my cards is going to be quite the summer project!
I keep mine in color coded sleeves by Spell Type, then sort Alpha by School then Alpha in each school. Other than the 4 or 5 spellbooks all of my cards are sorted in the box. The OCTGN SBB lets separate out cards from each release if I need it to. So if I wanted to make an IRL Academy spellbook. I would first do it in the OCTGN SBB and then build out the book with the cards from the box.

This is an old picture my box is almost completely filled now since Academy and Domination have been added into the mix, but you should still get the drift:

Works well with my OCD, though admittedly it is not the fastest process to build an IRL spellbook.

As Shark said Arena is Mage Wars. So if you are just starting your "Mage Wars" i.e. Arena adventure, I would recommend that you go out to the Arcane Wonders website and download the rule book from the Arena release and you that updated rule set instead of the one that came with the game.

To further clarify that is the General Release not the Early Release.

Typically it is 30 days after release before the cards become tourney legal.
