Because if everybody thinks that Academy is just watered-down arena rather than its own thing, then no one will want to play Academy.

I enjoy both a lot too. The only thing I really miss are the first and last quick casts.

I'm honestly thinking about house-ruling those back in. More interactive and simultaneously reduces the potential for huge burst damage. This is an instance where I think simplicity hurt the game play.
