the card states whenever a mage summons a creature, he may place it on summoning circle regardless of range or line of site. Does this include creatures summoned by spawnpoints?

Since my gaming group recently started playing Mage Wars, I was the only one lucky enough to get my hands on a DVN set. Can we anticipate another printing of this set? My buddies need it, and I would love to have a second set just for the Acid Balls.  :)

Rules Discussion / Basic question about Defense

So, we've only been playing for a few months now and after building my first Force Master book I'm pretty sure we've been playing Defense wrong and am hoping for clarification.

For creatures with defense, we took the number of uses to mean that the Ready marker is flipped to the Used side after a successful roll on the D12. But after closer inspection, it would seem that that the defense is used whenever the actual D12 is rolled whether successful or not. Is this accurate?

Strategy and Tactics / Raincloud and druid vs. Warlock

Two questions:

1) I've seen a couple druid decks with Raincloud. To what purpose does this serve as most vine creatures have Regen. Is raincloud in this instance worth the condition removal? Just curious if I'm missing something.

2) I've had great luck with the druid thus far but haven't gone against a warlock yet. My buddy indicated he's in process of building a warlock book. Don't want to turn down a challenge. Any advice on a an anti-warlock druid build to offset the fire weakness?

From there, basically try to summon and swarm with as many creatures as I can get on the board.

I hate using 8 SBPs for Destroy Magic, but the guys I've been playing with LOVE their enchantments and so thought this might be a nice surprise for them.

The basic strategy though is to equip Deathshroud and Mage Wand with Reassemble. Have archers in place with Fortified Position. Send out Sentries, Knights, and Minions on the offensive buffing them with Deathshroud and healing with Reassemble while Graveyard continues to summon. Should my mage get caught up in melee, I have Rhino Hide along with Vampirism and Drain Life (assuming Deathlock isn't in play yet) to keep me healthy.

General Discussion / First Four Player Arenda Death Match Game

Tomorrow night we have our first 4 player PVP Arena Death match scheduled. Will be using two Arena boards for set up per the Arena Multiplayer rules. Since this is our first multiplayer game, curious if it's better to use the two arena boards, or should we use one of the four player layouts recommended in Domination (though won't be playing actual domination for clarification).

Also, curious if there are any potential hiccups we should anticipate with a 4 player Arena game?

We're keeping our chosen mages secret until set up tomorrow, but I plan to play a Necro w skeleton horde. Any obvious suggestions/strategies with this mage for a 4 player PVP?

We've been playing mage wars for a little over a month now and I'm curious if our mage win/loss record is a statistical representation of my veteran mage peers:

(win-loss-draw) *draws were called after playing so long without a clear winner and had to stop due to time-constraints

Druid 2-0-1 (draw with the wizard, though had a slight upper hand at time of the draw)
Wizard 3-0-1 (draw with druid)
Necro 1-0-1 (draw with the priest- at time of draw if was very even)
Force master 1-0-0 (close match with Warlord)
Beast Master 1-1
Warlord (0-2-0) these losses were very close, so I don't know that these are as concerning as the Warlock losses.
Priest (0-1-0) Loss to Necro
Priestess (1-2-1)
Warlock (0-3-0) these losses were drastic and the one that surprises us. Maybe it's because we're noobs, but nobody in our group can seem to get the warlock going.

Are these numbers fairly statistically representative of others? Suggestions on playing a successful warlock welcome!

Some dude at Boardgamegeek posted the following:

"As others have mentioned (including Aaron, who's the lead designer), Paladin vs Siren is coming soon, albeit it's already long overdue. And there have been rumours (from Bryan Pope) that beyond that we can expect to see an alt-Wizard vs alt-Forcemaster (similar to Conquest of Kumanjaro and Forged in Fire), followed by a Barbarian vs Sorcerer. And the next Battlegrounds expansion is rumoured to be an Archmage (hinted at in Domination; probably a one-vs-many format). And they plan to release more mage types for Academy in the future (e.g. Forcemaster, Warlord, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Siren, ...)."

Barbarian vs. Sorcerer sounds awesome!

Strategy and Tactics / Help against Purge Magic

Here is the scenario of what happened in my Arena Match tonight: I had my Warlock buffed fairly well with Enchantments. I had three nullifies, one Reverse Magic and one Arcane Ward in my book. What my opponent did was use his QC to cast dissolve, which he knew he was wasting- dissolve's target says Mage, so it automatically triggers Nullify, which then freed him up to use his action to cast Purge Magic which removed all my enchantments. I can't place both Nullify AND Reverse Magic at the same time, because one spell would trigger both making one pointless.

How can I counter this tactic for future reference???

My apologies in advance- this is my second post regarding rules. But I do appreciate the help. Three more clarifications:

1) Does the Enchanter's Ring work when casting an enchantment on my own mage? I ask because the text says, "Friendly Creature?"

2) With sunfire amulet (and other Life + buffs), is there a maximum life a mage can have or does it just keep increasing indefinitely?

3) If I have Nullify and Reverse Magic on my mage at the same time, does an Incantation or Enchantment spell cast against my mage trigger both effects, or do I just choose which one to save the other for a future attack? I'm assuming yes because of the red reveal?

My strategy for him is pure defense while my mage makes ranged attacks with a spellbound Lightening bolt (buffed) and melee attacks with a buffed vinewhip staff.

If I get into trouble I can bind minor heal to mage wand, or if I want to be thematic and have fun, thought of binding Burst of Thorns. Of course, the purpose of the AWs is to protect the equipement.

Ok, let's have a good, honest critique. Again, keep in mind, I'll be going against a textbook warlord (my buddy is also a newbie and isn't all that interested in building his own book just yet).

Spells / Druid Leaf Ring and Vine Markers

I think I know the answer to this, but want to be sure. With Druid leaf ring equipped, am I able to deploy one additional vine Marker (from Vine Tree), for zero mana? Is the Vine Marker a spell? And if so, is it considered a plant spell?

Fairly new to this game, and have never played as a druid, so appreciate any help.
