Organized play resumes on Monday March 23, with Dark Prophets Chapter 2: To Save a Priestess (https://www.facebook.com/events/1456582981298799/).  Other details as above, with story points awarded to the player who summons the most creatures in each match (we generally play 2 matches each).

New players welcome!  I'll also have some "apprentice" spell books set up for teaching purposes.  Bring a friend, relative, or your arch-nemesis!

Oops, just realized I haven't been keeping this up-to-date.

Organized play resumes on Monday May 11 at The Wizard's Tower (http://www.wizardtower.com/), with Allegiance in Blood Chapter 1: The Rite of Visions (https://www.facebook.com/events/1587654094807863/).  Other details as above.

Chapter Challenge: Honor the Sacrifice
Story points will be awarded to the player who destroys the most creatures by direct Mage attack(melee attack or ranged attack, including attack spells) in each match.  In addition to promo cards for the nightly story and tournament point winners, prizes will be given out at the end of the OP story arc (e.g. Chapter 9) for those with the most accumulated story points and tournament points.

New players welcome!  I'll also have some "apprentice" spell books set up for teaching purposes.  Bring a friend, relative, or your arch-nemesis!

See you in the Arena!

Organized play at Wizard's Tower continues on Monday June 15 with Allegiance in Blood Chapter 3: Small Minds Laid Waste (http://www.arcanewonders.com/allegiance-in-blood)

Chapter Challenge: Out of the Fight
For this event, the first player to keep an enemy creature incapacitated or restrained for three or more rounds will earn story points and a guaranteed promo card.

Our last Chapter Challenge was not achieved by anyone, so the first player to destroy a Mage or Legendary creature with a Level 1 Spell will also earn story points and a guaranteed promo card.

Organized play at Wizard's Tower continues on Monday June 29 with Allegiance in Blood Chapter 4: Truth Like Blood (http://www.arcanewonders.com/allegiance-in-blood)

Chapter Challenge: Enemy Controlled
For this first event, story points will be awarded to whomever has the most enchantments placed on a single enemy creature at one time.

Our last Chapter Challenge ("Out of the Fight") was achieved when a "Blood Reaper" [mwcard=MW1C03]Dark Pact Slayer[/mwcard] was put to [mwcard=MW1I26]Sleep[/mwcard] for several consecutive rounds by a [mwcard=FWC16]Thoughtspore[/mwcard]!  The previous Chapter Challenge ("When the Highest Fall Low") has still not been achieved despite another close call (a Warlock was nearly finished off by an [mwcard=DNA01]Acid Ball[/mwcard]!), so the first player to destroy a Mage or Legendary creature with a Level 1 Spell will also earn story points and a guaranteed promo card.

Chapter Challenge: In Your Enemy's Shoes
For this first event, story points will be awarded for the first Mage to enter and remain in the enemy starting zone for at least 3 rounds.

A previous Chapter Challenge ("When the Highest Fall Low") has still not been achieved, so the first player to destroy a Mage or Legendary creature with a Level 1 Spell will also earn story points and a guaranteed promo card.

Organized play at Wizard's Tower continues on Monday July 27 with Allegiance in Blood Chapter 6: Inquisition of the Mind (http://www.arcanewonders.com/allegiance-in-blood)

Chapter Challenge: Power of the Mind
For this event, story points will be awarded to whomever casts the most Mind spells during a single match.

*edit* By the way, not only did each of Al's Straywood Beastmaster and my Forcemaster achieve the story point goal from last time (to spend 3 rounds in the opposing mage's starting zone), but my Forcemaster pulled off the outstanding story goal of destroying a mage with a level 1 spell.  It was down to the wire with both of us at 3 hit points.  Al's Johktari Beastmaster had initiative and attempted a Hurl Boulder with her quickcast, but my Forcemaster's built-in defense avoided the attack.  Then I countered with an unavoidable Flameblast during my quickcast for the win!

Mage Wars: Academy and Battlegrounds: Domination Demos

Thanks to a good friend, I acquired an advanced copy of each of Battlegrounds: Domination AND Mage Wars Academy (from Gen Con 2015).  I'm happy to demo the latter or get a match of the former going... whatever people are interested in.  Come out to the Wizard's Tower and join in the fun!

I'd love to give domination a try, but I won't have time to make a new book for it and I also have a couple of regular books I want to give a try.  Let's see who shows up and we'll go from there.

Also, our last two challenges are still in effect: (1) "Draw the Line" - story points will be awarded to the first player who can end their match without any of the opponent's creatures on his half of the Arena; and (2)  "Weakness in Numbers" - story points awarded to the first player to win a match with no creatures in play at the end of the game.

It is recommended that each player be prepared to play Domination or Arena on a given night.  That is, it's probably a good idea to bring (at least) 2 spell books: one designed for regular Arena play, and one designed for (presumably multiplayer) Domination - although in principle these could be the same book.
