I found a lot out from testing both types of Pallies.
Findings:
Monk crystal is only good for temple imo. For SWAT, you are being too passive.
Temple has the action advantage, but SWAT has the pressure advantage.
Auras are good to support large groups of creatures, but what if the creatures are seperated.
SWAT: Forge or no forge is the big question along with how to deal with enemy spawnpoints.
SWAT considerations: Blue knight, Ehren (too passive for SWAT imo), dorseas, red helms, white cloak knights, artimuis, cassiel, gray and guarding angel.
Thoughts on this interesting topic? :)

What is a SWAT? Are you using Crusade Banner to deploy your "SWAT Team"?
-
SWAT team is 2-4 bigish creatures. Generally you could etheir use banner for early rush or hard cast some big guns and use banner later.

I really like ehren in SWAP teams because Ehren+regrowth is just 9 mana, which is your channeling anyway.
If you want the forge then-
19
1) mana crystal + battle forge
16/1
2) leather chauses + Ehren + Regrowth
16/1
3) Champion's Gauntlets + knight of westlock (or a griffon) + face down enchantment (or Dorseus + face down enchantment without deployment if you want to heal Ehren faster)
Without a battle forge-
19
1) Ehren + regrowth
19
either 2) Dorseus + Hand of Bim-Shalla (and on 3rd round upkeep phase Ehren is fully healed) or 2) Alandell + Enchantment.

I actually do not like ehren in SWAT team books BC he slows you down to much IMO. You at least need to spend 2 more actions to heal him in the "right" way.
Dorseas is a beast however and is my nomination for best buddy.
