Dawnbreaker's Disciples (Priest)
« on: September 17, 2016, 12:12:51 PM »
Until Academy, I had never been a fan of the Holy school. But after recently getting my hands on the Academy priestess expansion, I thought I'd give the Priest a try. I've only played one game with this book so far (against a Wizard swarm with Gate to Voltari, Blue Gremlins and two Gorgon Archers) and I was very surprised at how well it performed.

The book mainly focusses on a White Cloak Knight as Holy Avenger together with a swarm of Disciples of Radiance. The Priest can support the HA with several buffs (Giant Size, Paladins Valor, Gator Toughness) or keep the Radiance trap intact with Healing Charms, or deal out cheap Burn tokens with Dazzle or the Resplendent Bow.

This looks pretty well constructed! My main gripe with holy school (a tiny one, i love the priest! ) is that it's tough to fit in all the enchantments you want. Pvs will help some with that as ive gotten really good mileage out of WCK.

All i can really say is that you might want to find room for a nullify a hawkeye a decoy and an arcane ward. That's 6 SP and i know that's hard to find, so if you had to pick just one, id add a hawkeye. Those dazzles are great for the burn at a cheap cost but adding a third die (with your DB ring) can actually make them sting a bit too.

The ward and the decoy are just to combat some of the current meta so they can probably be worked around. And i just feel naked without a nullify no matter what mage im playing, maybe that's just me though.
Looks really good so far, let me know how it plays!

Why the Decoy?
I can take the fun out of anything. It's true; here, look at this spreadsheet.

The reason for the decoy is three fold.

First its a cheap way to fish out a nullify, bury an important enchantment,  or fake out your opponent.  You know, the normal reasons,

Secondly decoy is one of two spells in the game that have a specific enough target line to fish out a potential arcane ward without spending to many sp. I dint know about you but a force crush with an arcane ward on it is bad news if you have to waste 2 dispels to get rid of it because you weren't packing something that targets non mage objects.

Thirdly and this one is minor, but while running priest myself ive gotten very mana starved very quickly. A floating face down decoy is a great way to secretly stash 2 mana for a rainy day.

But that's just my 2 cents, if you aren't running an arcane ward yourself you might want 2 decoys. Or an extra dispel.

Seems like a solid book! The white cloaks are awsome!
I would consider a second dawnbreaker ring and two hawkeyes as well as maybe akiros favor.  I am not the biggest fan of shrink. Better kill it.

At the moment I am trying to switch my priest books to the priestess with nearly no changes. Her abilities and higher channeling are simply better. I love to set things on fire, but HA is weak. But I am not done with testing. What i can say is that Priest is more fun to play even if weaker. Feels more straight forward :)  (but gaining life might win you a game silently)

Seems like a nice book  :)
I didn't understand why did you put Faith Healer's Staff, since it's damage isn't light damage so you can't burn with it.
Getting a lot of disciples of radiance and healing charms out and then teleporting the enemy mage to the same zone with 6 disciples of radiance and immediately revealing 6 healing charms for a total of 36 direct damage sounds like a hilarious finisher :)
