Custom Cards / Earthen Ditch
« on: January 09, 2017, 04:27:14 AM »
Here is a idea for a card.

Conjuration
Name: Earthen Ditch
School: Earth
Lv: ? 1-2
What is it: It is a wall that do not block line to of sight, but blocks movement (like a solid wall, earth wall, stone, steel, etc).
I thought about making eagle boots unable to cross, but I think just having a "wall" that blocks movement but not line of sight is a huge deal.

Any thoughts ideas, suggestions?

Custom Cards / Re: Poison Specialist (Mage & cards)
« on: January 09, 2017, 04:18:50 AM »
Poison Specialist
(I prefer Poison Alchemist or Assassin, but not a big deal.)

Spell Point Limit: 120
Health: 30
Armor: 0
Channeling: 10
(With the abilities and new cards, you probably only need 9 channeling.)(In most cases, a mage with 10 channeling is compensating for something.)

Creature: Human
(What about Goblin, Drow, something of a darker nature.)

Training: Trained in Dark 2, as well as Poison, and creatures with Poison Damage or Conditions, or effects that deal Poison Damage.
(There are way too many creatures that give Poison Con or Damage to add.  I would instead say something along the line of "Trained in Dark 2, as well as Poison and Acid subtype" since acid could easily be added to the poison theme.)

Abilities

Poison Master
The Poison Specialist has the Poison Immunity trait. When an enemy creature takes Poison damage, you may pay 1 mana to deal 1 direct Poison damage to them, but no more than once per creature per turn. Once per turn, when an enemy creature gains a Poison condition except from Creeping Poison, you may pay that condition’s removal cost to add 1 more of that condition.
(This is the same as the Necro, Instead of Plague Master you could say something like:
nama of ability: Poison Adept
Trait of ability: -2 from Poison Attacks and Conditions, All Poison enchantments and Incantations cost addition two mana to target this mage.
Thematically a poison specialist would take small dozes of different poisons to gain partial immunity. also you need something different.)

Creeping Poison
During the Upkeep Phase, each creature that does not have Poison Immunity must pay 1 mana (from itself or its controller) for each creature with a Poison Condition in their Zone or gain 1 of those conditions.
(A zone effecting ability is too strong, what about change this into a defensive ability like the forcemaster or wizard. What about:
name of ability: Poison Miasma
Trait of ability: Once per turn, the first creature to attack you is counter attacked by 1 dice Poison atk, unavoidable, Critical, daze +9 +8 Stagger.
This could act as a build in Barrier, instead of avoiding damage it deals damage.)

Poisoned Dagger ;; Melee ;; Quick ;; Poison ;; 1 Dice ;; 4-6 Rot, 7-10 Rot + Cripple, 11+ Tainted + Cripple
The effect dice only applies if the attack deals damage.

(Cool idea, but it has some blaring problems. 1: it is a poison attack, what would it feel like to go against a zombie. 2: having that may effects is overly complicated and powerful.
What about: [This could be interesting having two quick range attacks instead of melee attack]
Poison Flask ;; Range 0-1 ;; Quick ;; Poison ;; 2 Dice ;; +9 Daze.
Corrosive Flask ;; Range 0-1 ;; Quick ;; Acid ;; 1 Dice ;; +9 Corrode.
OR
Poisoned Dagger ;; Melee ;; Quick ;; Basic ;; 2 Dice ;; +8 Daze)

I'll update this later with the rest of the ideas.

Can you Teleport a creature in a zone with Mangler Caltrops?

Is it possible to teleport an Asp into a zone with a Mangler Caltrops.
(Basically does teleporting into a zone count as entering the zone?)
The Caltrops would not attack creatures summoned into the zone right?

Spells / Re: Oscuda

I like to use him in Domination (I think he was released in Domination).
I also use him against Druids to destroy there vine tokens. (Great against swarms (becuase daze), Flyers,)
He does work ok as a guard, if your mage is not attacking then Oscuda can give out daze of guard.

Grimmbart Vs Werekingdom

Grimmbart: Forcemaster
Werekingdom: Druid

This is the story of an young Druid's bond between herself and her pet Bear and there on again, off again relationship. One early morning, a bright and chipper young Druid went strolling off to a match (Authors note: In the morning the Druid gains and cannot lose the traits: Blonde hair and Airhead.) When the time for the match to begin, the rival mage (an old and decrepit Jedi) came shambling  into the arena, The normal taunts where given and the battle was joined. The beginning started off poorly for our young hero, the Crafty old Jedi summon a gallant knight and a hip demon, which the Bear became good friends with, hanging out in there zone and ordering pizza, much to the displeasure of the very irate druid. After much yelling... I mean after a long and fruitful dissuasion, the bear decided of his “own free will” to come back home (the castle prod may have help). In the bears defense, he never harmed his mistress, but the relationship between the two became rocky, he would wonder between his master and his friends with a dazed expression on his face. Frustrated with her bear's on again, off again attitude, she decided to take matters into her own hands, rushing to face her opponent. The Crafty Jedi on the other hand, disdained to bloody his hands and instead ordered his gang members to finish the job. The young Druid fought gallantly, and when the time came, she made a very gallant retreat. Not to be dissuaded the old Jedi, got tired of his inept minions repeated failures, so he started throwing things at our young heroine. Our hero stood firm, enduring the rocks and scorn thrown at her. surrounded by enemies our hero was about to make another gallant retreat when she was cruelly struck from behind by a jedi mind trick that hammered her to the ground, In the dust and debris, as the light is slowly fading from our heroine eye, she looked up into the eyes of her beloved pet bear and said her final words "Damn you bear! I needed more coffee." with that she faded away in the arms of her bear, The bear for his part lower his head, what appeared to be a tear fall down his face, he then …............. uh................ I'll skip the gory part.............. The End.

Rules Discussion / Goblin Builder and Mind's Eye
« on: December 23, 2016, 06:01:44 PM »
So I was looking at the Mind's Eye card and noticed that is says quick spell by a familiar or mage.
After that I looked at the Goblin Builder, it says he spends a full cast to cast conjurations range 0-0.

So since the mind's eye says quick spell (the card type) and Goblin Builder takes a full action (the action cost) does that mean I can cast a wall, caltrops, ect (quick spell) at range 0-0 from mind's eye, if I use a full action from the builder to cast?

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Let's talk Holy Avenger
« on: December 23, 2016, 05:46:03 PM »
The problem I see is that Holy Avenger gains the melee bonus when another holy creature OR conjuration is attack. So if you rush forward and cast a creature + HA, then the opponent could just atk the mage, HA or non-holy conjuration thus depriving you of the melee bonus altogether.

Con: It's the Gen Con tournament not an OCTGN tournament. We could just hold an online tournnament without having to drive to Indiana.  :P

I agree, it is a gen con tournament not an OCTGN tournament.

The reason I proposed this because I always wanted to go, but I live near the pacific. So I'm been scheming of ways to play against the guys at gen con.

This maybe be a terrible idea, or it could work great.

What about setting up laptops with Octgn, then have then use it.
Most could install Octgn and build a deck, then bring a flash drive if they don't have a laptop. If they can't, you can set a laptop aside just to build a deck, then use a flashdrive to transfer the deck to a open laptop.

Pro:
-Speed: Playing on Octgn seems to save between 25-33% time.
-Table space:  A laptop takes a lot less table space.
-Moving Tables:  Instead of having to move to a new table for each game, you can just login and play against your opponent. You could make general accounts that you can just upload your deck from a flash drive, if you did not bring your own laptop or you don't have a Octgn account.
-Larger number of players: you can enlarge the tournament, if you can find a way so each player only plays between 4-5 games.
-Possibility of opening up tournament to people in Europe.

Con:
-Can't see your opponent: Seeing you opponent usually gives a lot of clues to what he/she is thinking.
-Laptops: Bring that maybe old laptops + setup is going to be a pain.
-Electronics: There will ALWAYS be a problem!
-Stupid People: 10% of people are idiots!
