General Discussion / Re: Essential cards pack
« on: June 21, 2017, 10:20:49 AM »
Don't get me wrong Zeburi, I'm really really anxious about Forcemaster new expansion too!  :o

But, as I'm, nowadays, playing more MW than I normally do, and I'm the only person in my city (Curitiba - at Brasil) that have been buying the game and expansions (at least that I know), and all. I'm preparing more spellbooks for my crew!

As I try to leave the spelbooks ready to use when my friends arrives, I always fell short on these essential cards, because I try to balance the books for everybody on the table to have fun.

-I think that buying another Core set or the Core spell tomes is a bad idea, because I have a LOT of cards to spare from these packs I almost never use. Like, 11 or 12 Agony, or something like that, from which I use 2.

-A poll would be VERY nice, to see which cards would enter the tome. I'd guess that teleport, lesser teleport, nullify, force push, dispel and dissolve would be at the top of the list, and the other ones could be filtered by the poll's opinions.

-I know some of you think it is unecessary to have a tome expansion like this, but then just don't buy it! Because I've seen many guys asking for something like that. And since it would have no new cards in it, it would not demand any work at all. Just toss the cards in the tome box and have fun selling it to people like me!  :P

Thanks for the answers  ;)

General Discussion / Essential cards pack

Hi!

I'm sorry if there is, but I could not find a topic about this issue.

I've not been around the foruns for a lot of time, but my love for MW is persistent from 2013, and even since then, I've always missed an essential cards pack. I got 3 core mw box and 2 of every expansion, and, even like this, I get short of essential cards for spellbook construction.

Why don't you guys develop a pack like that? I think it would sell like water.

By essential cards I mean:

-Teleport
-Lesser Teleport
-Dispel
-Disperse
-Seeking Dispel
-Dissolve
-Crumble
-Nullify
-Arcane Ward
-Force Push
-Mage Wand
-Acid Ball
-Regrowth

And maybe toss inside the pack 1 or 2:

-Brace Yourself
-Leather Boots
-Leather Chausses
-Leather Gloves
-Leather Belt
-Bear Strenght
-Mongoose Agility
-Minor Heal
-Regrowth Belt
-Wall of Thorns
-Battle Forge
-Mend
-Enchanter's ring
-Elemental Cloak
Any other suggestions guys?

So, if there is a topic in that matter, please move me there to give my support for the cause!  :D

Please, very please!
Do the damn errata pack with extra essencial-cards-every-spellbook-must-have.
I'd buy like 6 or 7 of these packs.  ;D
(Seriously)

People, I know this question must be very silly for you guys, but I didn't figure out yet what is the purpose of that red acrylic red box (with MW logo in Yellow) that arrived here with my kumanjaro expansion... o.O
I mounted it (I don't know if correctly) but I don't see any purpose for it. Help me!  I'm curious!

Thanks! =D

I think it could maybe be effective against the Forcemaster (and using Fellella to help), so, each time you have an action to spend (no attack and no reason to cast any other thing)  you put a couple of traps, surrounding the force master, or then making a "Wall of traps" between you and her and kind of limiting her movement.
So when she steps in one of them.. boom...
But like said, no mana effectiveness anyway... :(

If you put only one of each type of trap in each zone, I can´t think in anything that makes it illegal. But I´m not sure if it´s worthy!
The amount of resourses (cards, moves, actions and mana) you´ll spend doing that would be better invested in other ways imo.
Traps are good for controling the board, and exert some menace over a zone.
Off course hellfire trap  deals a good amount of damage, and maybe for an ending game tactic it may work, 3 hellfiretraps and 2 teleport traps would deal 12 dice damage, for a total cost of 20 mana (not very mana-effective), and with the risk of your opponent cast a seeking dispel on one of your teleport traps, breaking the chain.

I think if you put Fellella in your deck, it will help a lot with that, since you´ll not have to spend your mage´s action to cast these tons of enchantment.

Since they are both level 1 spells, you could have 6 of each in your spellbook, and for the most extreme situation, make a damage of 24 die! It looks a lot, but it´s a 2 damage die  per card (since the damage is diluting between 2 cards, 4 damage for 2 cards each - except for the last hellfire trap) and 48 mana (or 44 if you don´t count the last teleport trap.   And it would take at least 5 turns ( with Fellella´s help) In which your opponent could notice what you are trying to do, and send a small creatures pack to frustrate your tactic.

But I´m really curious...  if you try it out in a game, please tell me how it works!  :cheer:

The creature gets as many damage as rot markers on it, so, 2 damage! Rot and Weak are awesome!  :pinch:

9
Why would it be 5 dice with 2 zones away? It gives +1 to ranged attacks, independently of other modifiers.
I think it's 7,6,5...
With Hawkeye you get 8,7,6
With 2 Walls of Stone around the Watchtower you get a very, very dangerous thing!

Wow, that's what I call boldness, not even a Lair?

Maybe I'll try your book, it seems quite agressive but also versatile.  :)

Yeah, I finished messing around with my spellbook,
Eagle wings was already there, but I added Agony, 1 Teleport, Tarok, Maim Wings (last two for flying troubles), Fellella (to help protecting the animals), Harmonize (For Lair, or mage), Unicorn (Regen ALL the Animals!). But had to take out some attacks and healings!  But I think it's more versatile now! =)

Thanks again for your support guys!  It was very helpful!

Thank you Red and Ringkichard!

I was just at this moment trying to put a teleport in my BM Spellbook, with some other things. But I'm having (a lot of) trouble with "What-to-remove" to open space for them!!!  :S

But 3 Teleports Ringkichard?!!    12 spellbook points?  Can you post your spellbook for me to see what you putted in (and out)!

Thank you guys!

Yeah, I think there isn't an "easy way" to deal with that situation. Maybe I'll put some other pair of Walls in BM deck, one big flyer, and focus on medium ground creatures, that can handle 2 or 3 attacks before they die.

Strategy and Tactics / Beastmaster vs Ranged
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:10:30 PM »
So, I was playing yesterday with a Ranged focused Walord, and my friend with a Beastmaster (Classic V2.0 build). And the duel was a lot frustrating (for him  :silly: ) because everytime he sent his creatures to attack me (and my conjurations) I shooted him with my Sniper, Ivarium Bow, Ludwig, or than double strike them with Sir Corazin.
And when he came with the Bear, I quicksand him and he sink down to hell!

He ended the duel with the conclusion that there's no way for a beastmaster (with no ranged units) to beat a ranged focused mage.

I was trying to find some discussion about that issue around here and did not find it. So, I'm making it for you guys to help me (and him) with these strategies.

1) I think maybe is a good thing for the beastmaster to wait until it has a good number of creature gathered before beggining the attack (to overwhelm the ranged creatures), but then I could also (in this time) gather more ranged creatures, like goblins slingshoters. So, don't know if this could help.

2) If the BM casts a lot of falcons to pass through my melle (that were defending the ranged units), of course the ranged would focus in the flying and beat them down.

3) Maybe use an Elemental wand with jet stream or Geyser to keep dazing and/or pushing my creatures would be a good tactic, but he didn't have an elemental wand in his deck. Maybe i'll put one in the BM deck. Would you use this tactic?

What else would you recomend us (young padawans  :P ) to do in that situations??

Thanks!!
(And sorry for some bad english usage, I'm from Brazil, and english is my 2nd language)
