Spellbook Design and Construction / Plantgirl the beginning

Hello fellow mages!

I've been trying to make a good all-around deck for the Druid. The deck is based on the vine trees ability to deploy conjurations and creatures while your mage will mainly focus on building economy the first rounds.

Opener
I see three different openers with this build:
1 Druid's Leaf ring + Vine Tree
2 Vine Tree + Mana Flower
3 Vine Tree + Meditation Amulet.

This always depends on what mage you're up against and what kind of strategy you think he/she will be playing.
The safest choice is Druid's Leaf Ring + Vine Tree. since it's a very solid opener.

Gameplan
For the most of the game what you'll want to do is spread 2 vines/turn while building your economy with the Medidation amulet. You want to be aggressive with your plants and make the other mage react to you.

Thornlasher aggro is great vs mages that do not use conjurations. Thorn + wall = so good!
If you're playing vs a Wizard being able to react to a Wizard tower should be your main focus, while tearing away his economy.

I've one force hammer in this deck, it's mainly there to be able to deal with deathlock.
It's tempting to use it to deal with a Wizzard's tower however I would rather block the towers vision to my vine tree or deal with it by using my creatures. I would only use the force hammer as a last resort. I see my creatures as expendable and therefore gladly have the opponet use attack spells do deal with them.

Your feedback is higly appreciated.

Me and Moldrid played our match.
I played the Anvil Throne Warlord and he played the Johktari Beastmaster.

The Warlord came out victorious.

I'm sad to see how this turned out. I understand that people are frustrated that their decks got exposed, I was caught by suprise by it too, but give the guy a break! He's organizing this whole event by himself and I can see the logic in posting the decks so no one went outside the rules of the tournament.

I'd say the best solution would be to push forward the entire league by one week if the Dude still wants to run it. This league was a great idea and I love that there's no Wizzards and that I've to plan for upcomming matches!

I suggest that if we do run the league just keep the same partners and construct new decks, if you feel the need to do so. I can honestly say I didn't remember anything about anyones deck!

For the question about the decks and keeping them legal I sugggest this solution:
To make sure everyone is using legal decks it should be easy to keep track on your own? No promos, 120SB points. And If someone is caught running with illegal cards they'll have to forefeit the match or something?

Players could just submit the decks and the result after the game has been played?

All the info you would need is to know who you are going to play and what mages that person has already played.
Could keep that info in the first post like this:

Player name
Warlord                Win
Druid                   Loss
Beastmaster        Aviable
Necro                  Aviable

Anyway just my thoughts on the matter :P

I've tried to stay away from promos when I play online and when I meet someone playing Ballistas or other promo cards  I just find it more rewarding if I beat them :)

The only mage I really use promos for is the Warlord. I've a deck that has been doing well and thats mainly thanks to the new soilder creatures and the enchantments :) I try to avoid ballista in all of my decks and when I saw what sIKE said about removing the card I felt nothing but joy, and so does my druid's vine tree!

Mages / Re: Top-Tier viable mages?

Wizard :
Tripling the cost of one opposing elemental school is not enough imo.
Triple cost for all three non proficient elemental schools is.

I agree with this, however I do think the Wizzard's Tower should be left the way it is now.
The only time I feel that the Wizzard's Tower is extremely strong is when it's combined with the Ballista.

If the Wizzard's Tower gets hit with the nerf hammer I feel that they lose the mobility of being a Wizzard.

Increasing spellbook construction cost seems to be the best way to potentially "fix" the Wizzard. Having to many tools in his toolbox is the biggest issue for me, limiting them would be a great way to deal with the issue.

I'd like Ballista to follow Akiro's Hammer and become Warlord only, I dont find any reason behind making it aviable to other mages since it's a war machine!

@RomeoXero
You're correct. I'm talking about Druid's Leaf Ring.
I do not know how I mixed them since I've never used Moktari's Branch.

Hey!  If you want more accurate feedback I would suggest giving us ur calculated opener(s) with the deck and how you aim to play it.

I'm a bit new to Mage Wars but I'll give you my views on your deck.

I assume you're going to play Vine tree + something on turn one. Since you do not have the Druid's Leaf Ring. I assume you either cast a creature or another conjuration. And after that you react to how of the opponent plays.

your cards:

Attack
I like Geyser vs hugin/battleforge/remove burns.
I do not agree with x2 Surging Wave, I'd keep 1 instead of 2.

I'd like to see you use Forcehammer/Hurl Boulder so that you have a solid way of chipping down conjurations you consider high value targets. Like the Wizard's Tower, Death Lock, Idol of Pestilence, Ballista.

Conjurations
x5 tangle vine
I do not agree with 5, I'd use something like 3 or 2 since you've a stranglevine and most opponents will not run more than 2-3 Teleports. If your aim is to make sure they do not move!

Creature

I believe you should've Cervere(fast, elusive, Defens roll) in your deck if your aim is to  run an aggressive buff druid.

Fellella, Pixie Familiar
If you run Aggro druid, I dont think you should use Fellella. Because you'll need every action to get some early pressure, sure she could be usefull later but I'd rather see you use ur mana for dispells/dissolves once you feel like you've the upperhand.

Galador, Protector of Straywood.
I'm not sure about this card. I've used him with Cervere myself in an aggro druid deck that has worked very well but most of the time Galador didn't really feel worth it. I'd rather have Steelclaw Grissly instead, it's only when you want to punish panzerguard this card really feels worth it. Getting a stun is amazing but it's 10+ so I can never count on it.

Thornlasher
I think this could be a really good choice to add. Since I assume you want to set up tons of creatures in the other mage's zone and keep him there. Thornlasher could work like a forcepush each round if he's not elusive and wants to run away but also a good way yo get around guard if you want to get a finnishing blow on something and you don't have an elusive creature on the board.

Enchantments
Lion Savagery x3
I think this is a huge waste of mana ingame since you do not have a creature that's both fast and elusive! I would only use x1 in my deck. I would recommend Cervere for maximum use of this buff else it's very situational and therefore not worth having x3.

Cheetah Speed x2
I've been tempted to run some Cheetah builds but I can't see myself ever using more than one. If you're spam buffing ur creatures you're so far ahead it would be better to do something else with ur quick.

Mongoose Agility x2
I can understand two of these but feels like you won't play two in a game that you're behind in and therefore it feels more of a I've won card.

Akiro's Favor x2
Rerolling is great but having two of these feels overkill, expensive for the book + using it to buff creature means  it's usually the last buff you apply. Which means u already kinda won if you can apply it a second time.

Rhino Hide x3
Great druid card, just dont think you'll ever need 3. I'd go with 1 or 2.

Since you're running a buff deck I assume you want to take 1 creature out make him big and see him shred the opponent appart. I great way to make sure all of these actions you've spent buffing ur creature isn't wasted is to use Enchantment Transfusion. Aslong as you stay 0-2 range of ur creature you can swap the desired buff(buffs) to another creature of ur choice for a small cost. Running this card instead of the other buff cards I've listed would open up a lot of spellbook points for other stuff that I consider more usefull.

With an Aggro deck I'd suggest running atleast one or two jinxes and poison bloods. Clutch healing on something you want to die is always annoying and having more actions than your opponent when you're ahead is always great :)

Equipment

Regrowth Belt
I understand why you'll want to include a regrowth belt since it's 6mana for 2 regen however I always end up using Barkskin whenver I get focused and since regen doesn't stack I would never get the chance to use Regrowth belt in a way I feel it's worth to have it in my deck.

Elemental Wand
Is a great tool but I feel like if you are only running those spells it wont be worth casting.
If you add a Hurlboulder/Forcehammer I can see use for the wand however I highly doubt it.

Depending on ur playstyle I would suggest adding a Mediation Amulet and Druid's Leaf Ring. On one of my aggressive druid decks that I've been using this opener:
R1 19Mana  Druid's Leaf Ring > Vine Tree
R2 19Mana  Mana flower/Rouse the beast > Cervere

Mage Wand
The mage wand is great when you're ahead and the opponet shouldn't be able to dissolve it fast.

Incantation
3 x Burst of Thorns seems a bit to much when you're running Elemental Wand.
I'd use 1 or 2.

Dispel.
I'd use 3-4. If you're ahead you want to remove dmg barriers like Circle of Lightning and other annoying Enchantments from ur target.

Dissolve
I would run atleast 3. Makes you able to take care of their potential wands/armors with ur Corrosive Orchid aviable to catch them offguard if needed.

I think that adding a heal would be a good way to make sure your buffed creature stays alive. Combining this with a mage wand could be really good if you've the actions and the spellbook points aviable.

This is just some thoughts I've looking at the deck but seems like a solid deck and you'll have loads of fun with it :)

I'm a bit tierd so sorry for any potential spelling errors.

Would be cool if you could add the option of linking your Arcane Wonders forum account with the spellbook builder. And asoon you're online you can access decks that you've save and make new one or just polish the ones you've.
