Mage Wars Academy / Missing Definitions
« on: August 17, 2016, 08:37:49 AM »
Hello all.  The codex in Academy neglects to explain vampirism and Aegis.  Would it be right to assume it is the same as in Mage Wars Arena?

32
Hi Rool.  The rest of the forum is all about arena.  Before it was just called Mage Wars

33
Hi all,   now I have academy, how to I sort out its information here from all the rest?

So, no new organized Play Kits have been released since Malignant intentions.  Have they been discontinued?

Hi Mtr,  where do you play in the Netherlands?   We had an active group in Arnhem,   it seems to be starting up again.   Where do you play?

Great to hear that Bryan Pope will be at Essen,  Pegasus does many many demos at their stand which loses mage wars in the middle of it the last couple of years.  Will there be a bigger presence for mage wars or highlighting Bryan Pope?

This is a good idea.  Does anyone know how close this comes to the academy?

So, this is great to read, but hoped we might get some more details, battle reports or photos even.  Last chance before everything dissappears under an avalance of Origins material.  Shame to miss all the fun you guys had?

Nice to read, thank you people,  any more details for us?  How many players were there?  What books were used?  We see it was mainly wizards but was that 6? 8?  what types?  What were the results?  What surprising strategies were used?   Wish I was there, now I want to know everything

Nice, wish I was there.  Will you be publishing the results of the Mage wars games today?  How many have registered for the championship? What spelbooks are they using? Will any videos be made?

True, we enjoy longer games to try different strategies.  Time limits are used for competitions or organized play and have a completely different style.  Much more aggressive.  No spending 10 turns summoning Crystals and preparing it is do or die.

OK, nice, seems I missed the links somehow.  It would be great to have it alter the history and story of the continent and perhaps decide what promo cards or issues will come out.   Without revealing too much, the last kit could have helped decide when or if dragons were coming out, but they were included in FIF.

How about summarising the votes and telling us the results then.  Not sure if it was a european problem but in the printed material the closing dates for submitting results was Always before we even got it in Europe.

we enjoyed completing the kits now we hope to see the results of our votes and the story.

Was wondering if the kits have stopped. They were fun but seem to have ceased.

There was a problem that any prizes from them, the promo cards could not be used in official competitions but that only applies to the USA so the rest of the world did not care.

Also it was Always a shame that we would vote at the end and Never ever hear any result of them or see that it had any influence on the game or story.  A shame, that would have been a great feature as in helping decide which expansion came out next or writing the story for the future.

So back to the Original question.  Is Mage Wars losing popularity?

Seems in the US, NO (I hope)
In the rest of the world yes, ( a shame)

as post script, I have played a lot of Mage Wars and have never had a game go over 2 hours, most are around 1 to 90 minutes and those within the tornament settings, such at Organised Play were usually over within 30 minutes, nasty, brutal and short.

By the way, Organised Play, have they died a natural death?
