Removing Bleed Condition
« on: September 12, 2013, 08:01:11 AM »
If a creature with a bleed counter on it regenerates 2 life during the Upkeep Phase, can this counter automatically be removed or do you still need to pay the removal cost of 2? In this situation, does the bleed counter still do 1 direct damage during this Upkeep Phase?

I think you have to "heal" to remove a bleed condition.  I'm not sure regen counts as a heal, so I don't think it would remove the bleed condition.

As far as the damage v regen timing in upkeep phase I think you get to select the timing of the effects?  Or is that dependant on who has inititive gets to decide timing?

You decide the order of effects on your creatures during the upkeep.

In the case where a bridge troll has 2 bleed tokens and  3 regeneration - The obvious choice of effect order is:
Choose Regenerate before other effects.
When healing (which regenerate does) choose to remove 2 bleed tokens and heal 1 hp.'
Now bleed is gone, and it will not take effect.

For each bleed you remove you heal 1 less point

That was well thought out guys! I'm glad bleed isn't completely useless against creatures with regen.

So that works the same way for heals and regen?  So if you cast a small heal and roll 5 points of heal and you have 3 bleed conditions you can remove all bleed conditions and heal 2 points of damage?

I must have totally read that bleed condition wrong.  I thought it said each time you heal you can remove A condition, so we were only removing ONE condition each time we healed.  This makes Bleed MUCH easier to deal with and get rid of.  Cool.

Thanks for the clarification.

The problem is not creatures with regen... the problem is Hand of Bim shalla.

Yeah, Hand shuts down bleed pretty hard. If you're playing more than one Dire, it may be worth it to include a Deathlock.
I can take the fun out of anything. It's true; here, look at this spreadsheet.
