As far as I know, getting rid of a sleep condition is currently the only use for attacking your own creatures that isn't highly situational. Maybe if and when there are cantrip creatures, you could have them attack and destroy themselves so they could be cast somewhere else. And...i just thought of a really awesome mage idea.

To heal via Vampirism also is a reason to attack your own creature.

Or with Kralathor on low hp creature (like a bobcat) to early grow him
