playing over skype
« on: November 27, 2014, 10:26:34 AM »
Has anyone on here ever played MW over Skype. And by over skype I mean with the camera on the board playing with real cards instead of using Octgn.

I want to try playing this way. I have 2 copies of every thing  (core and all expansions so it shouldn't be a problem on my end to have all the cards available.

message me and we'll see if we can do this.

How are you supposed to attach hidden attachments to your opponent this way?

Or you could try this:

Each player using Skype has half of the arena in front of them. Then whenever your opponent would move one of their cards to your half of the arena, replace that card with its proxy.

That way you don't have to have all the same cards as your opponent.

These are all things i've already thought up and how to deal with.

I just want to try it.  I'm trying to get more ways to play.

I've thought of it too. I think one possible way is to do it with three people. Of course this involves some commitment from a person that's not technically playing but maybe they could learn something from it.

Anyway you would have two people face each other in real space. One person is actually playing and the other person is just a puppet. The puppet is being controlled by the other person skyping. The one skyping in just makes the call as the puppet follows his orders.

Otherwise, yeah, just do it like you just said.

why do you need a 3rd person?

Each player would have a board with a Camera set up over it.. as one player places cards on their board the other player matches, so both players have the exact same board in front of them.

Each player would roll their own dice in real time. if one player doesn't have a card that the other player plays, they could proxy the card so that the board is the same on both sides.

Enchantments would be played face down by a Proxy card and the real card would be placed there once the card is revealed.
