I am running an ancient PC and the cards show up fine, but they have square corners. I am using Windows Internet Explorer, coal fired.

Who are you?

Where did you come from all of a sudden like that?

I am a simple hillbilly born in the hills of West Virginia and currently living in North Carolina. I got Mage Wars back in December of 2012 as a holiday gift to myself. It took me a couple of months to get it to the table, and my first few play throughs sparked a couple of questions which these forums promptly answered. Over the course of the year, I have stalked these forums in the hopes of improving my own mastery of the game but I didn't really contribute much back to it. In October though, I decided to pass on a little bit of the info I had picked up by answering a few questions myself, and I earned myself a Banana Sticker. It was a delicious prize, and I decided to seek out more by becoming much more involved with the game I love.

Uh huh. I didn't realise they were edible. Sounds good.

Thanks for your recent plethora of posts. Good stuff in them.

There's no way I'm sharing my book.  ;)

There are many ways to play FM effectively. Of the various routes I have seen, the three most effective have been...

Few big as per my post above
Thoughtspore with push or teleport, plus tooled up FM
Solo with forcefield

I take your point ref a versatile Wizard book, in fact, my main is an Air Wizard, but I still have PLENTY spells and several routes to win in my FM book with even THREE big. Grizzly, Brogan, Galador. Two big is slightly better
. I would trade versatility for effectiveness most times. Clearly, a bit of versatility IS required.

Ps what is voltron collective?

I have used a 'few big' FM build with an excellent win rate versus many players and mages in OCTGN.

Essentially, DON'T play solo style, rather use Grizzly and Brogan. Bring out Grizzly first in general or Brogan vs FM, Priest or Priestess. The response from those mages is unprintable in polite company...

Bring out biggie plus force ring turn one.
Bring out Battle Forge plus an enchantment on biggie turn two. Usually bear strength if Brogan.
Send biggie forwards whilst deploying small armour, then weapon, then scimitar from forge and mixing it up versus fuzzy play.
Use force pull with ring to help positioning.

Has been very effective.

In reverse, the Mage I most worry about is FM with a Force field. That, and anything played by Charmyna.

Oh dear. Can we discuss the build?

Run to near center, cast battle forge and harmonize behind you, bringing you to 7 mana. The next round you are casting amulet off of forge followed by double mana flower to bring you all the way down to 2 mana. Next turn, cast ring of beasts off of forge, and then start an onslaught of roused creatures.

Nice book, but I worry that with all that set up, you might be getting smashed in the face before you can react??

Normally I would agree. I like the Vampiress better than the Grizzly for most mages. However, for the Forcemaster I would prefer the Grizzly.

Agreed. I run a Grizzly plus Vamp in my main Wizard build, but for my FM, I have been experimenting of late. Tried Grizzly, Galador, Vamp, Brogan. Various combo's. Two or three.

Have had best results with Grizzly plus Brogan. This is a joy if I get turn one init vs Priestess or Priest.

Brogan always gets Bear Strength. Someone gets Mongoose, Eagle Wings, etc.

Hello imaginator,

I would be very happy to play you several times on OCTGN and talk through the tactics as we play. Kind if joint learning if you like. I did that with Charmyna a couple of times and found it very helpful in terms of expanding my thinking.

I am Fentum on OCTGN. Tend to be on line in the evening on GMT..

@deckbuilder...

I have to wildly agree with your views. I love this game. Probably my favourite game yet, and I have tried many. The intuitive aspect is great. It makes all the complex information easy to use in actual play.

I haven't played the druid yet, but reading your post, I am kinda dreading trying to remember which traits and effects and so on affect plants vs. creatures.

Living and non living is fine, but I worry about the bloodthirsty example, etc. above.

I have seen a couple of different traits on this card, involving poison immunity and damage type, or not. What is correct wording of this card?
