Title: force push
Post by: pete2 on January 01, 2014, 10:43:39 AM
can a mage be pulled toward another mage , with the intention to push this mage through a wall of thornes, using the "force push" spell ? for example : target mage is diagonally 2 zones away from casting mage (legal distance to cast force push), and in between them there is the wall of thornes. Can the casting mage "pull" the target mage through the wall ?

What matters here is the direction in which the force push can be used

thanks for clarifying ! ( i lost a game because of this so...)

All movement in the game is orthogonal (up, down, left, or right). Diagonal movement is never allowed, so if that's what you were trying, then it wouldn't work. If you were trying to pull the mage towards you up or sideways (meaning the other mage went from 2 spaces away to 1 space away), then that would work fine. Force push can move the target in any orthogonal direction regardless of the direction from the casting mage.

Yes. Force Push specifies on the card that you are allowed to push the target in a direction of your choice.

It has a range of 0-2 zones and targets creatures, so as long as you have LOS to the target "mage", then you can push him. If the Wall has the Passage Blocked trait you could pay 3 more mana to push them through.

It is very common to see a dispel and a force push used in tandem to deal a large amount of damage to a mage. Done properly (i.e. done to me) you can take a mage from 0 damage to death in 2 rounds.

I dont know if I can live without them anymore, especially with the necromancer and his wall of bone.....the wall that just wont fall. (TM)

OH! And wait- there is this

Push is an effect caused by some spells and attacks that moves the target
into an adjacent zone. Unless the effect says otherwise, the Pushed creature
must move one zone away in the opposite direction from the source of the
Push.

So yeah- I dont think you can "Pull" a mage towards you.

Sorry, I meant to post this......and forgot since I wanted to give sIKE a hard time  ;D

I totally should of posted this- my bad.

Your rule applies when a push direction is not defined. Force Push specifically says it can push any direction.

Really. I guess that makes sense. I still thought that the rule would apply to force push- oh well.  ;D
