Wow, the goblin might be tied with the falcon about the #1 lvl 1 creature.
I think they are both ahead by a rather large margin... and this lvl 2 enchantment-destroyer certainly is very interesting as well.
Additionally the new formations are strong for swarming tactics as well, especially since the warlords familiar can cast them! That's very convenient.
Adding the new FM-amulet I think that bloodwave warlord (vet. token on these goblins) become seriously competitive. Okay, maybe not competitive but they still get a huge boost. I like it very much so far.
Can't wait to see more spoilers!

you mean the elf, right? i also really liked the formations, we need more commands :) the elf is alright, 1 mana more better goblin grunt , the rest not so much

Watched it live. Wow, really excited about Formations...
The "Elven Grunt" is quite good, and the Harshforge Construct is a neat in-school Dispel replacement supplement, albeit a little gimmicky (e.g. you depend on the dice in order to trigger his ability, and when you do use it, you give up dealing damage). But I question the decision to go with a High Elven Warlord and Elven War-school soldiers rather than filling out the Goblin and Dwarven ranks while keeping (High) Elven soldiers/knights in the Holy and/or Holy & War schools. I get that generally your species shouldn't define your training, but when there's already a precedent and options haven't been exhausted, I'd prefer to stick with precedent. Oh well. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer for level 1 Dwarves.

Something was mentioned about multiple formations not being allowed in the same zone and having to flip any other formation enchantments back to the face down side. Three questions about that.
First I assume the controller of the formations gets to choose which formations to flip to face down?
Second, can I reveal a different formation in a zone with an already revealed formation to change which buff I am getting.
And third, when leaving the zone with a flipped formation enchantment will I have to pay the reveal cost again?

Anybody else getting a vibe that Formations are a little like Paladin Auras, but easier to activate, swap, put in the zone they're needed in, etc... e.g. "better"... ?

1) Yes, the controller chooses. Also, the rule is only one "Friendly formation" can be revealed at one time. So team Warlord will have to choose, but mirror match it won't matter.
2) Yes, if you reveal a new formation you must flip the old formation face down.
3) Every time you reveal an enchantment you must pay the reveal cost. Flipping formations willy-nilly will lose you mana.
Bonus: "A Formation can only be revealed with the attached creature activates."

Gurmash is an easy addition to any warlord book with all these new commands and formations.
Warlord may end up being my main once this is released.
Warlord will be the king of Range attacks with the help of fire at will and possibly other cards in this set. ;)

He's certainly getting a lot stronger in multiplayer Domination, where total actions (including multiple melee strikes through Battle Fury or Whirling Strike), zone control, Guards and ways of evading guards are all important. There, he was already one of our strongest mages. Slaknir making all Goblins Elusive is particularly awesome, and he has a great selection of walls. Add a few Formations and he's going to be really tough to overthrow in that format.

Here's formations in a Nutshell:
1. Can only be revealed when the creature they're attached to activates. You may also turn other formations attached to the SAME creature face down at this time, but not those attached to other creatures. So switching formations can affect the order you want to activate your creatures in.
2. You may only have one friendly formation revealed in a zone at a time. If more than one end up in the same zone, via creature movement or enchantment shifting shenanigans, you must immediately turn all but one face down. Their controller chooses which ones to turn face down. In team games, the team must come to an agreement.
3. You always pay the reveal cost when you reveal an enchantment, even if it has been revealed previously in the game.
4. They have the Cantrip trait nested into the Formation trait. So even though it doesn't say Cantrip, they all have it.
I should have probably planned out how I was going to describe it better than I did. Sorry about that.

Formations are one of the things I like most about this set. They combo amazingly well with some existing cards such as Standard Banner and Fortified Position.
Obviously the weenie swarm benefits from them but so do your mid-sized guys like Orc Butchers.
The butcher's in a Bloodwave book and Promotion could end up a 6 dice, 3 armor killer.

A "swarm" warlord is only as good as the person playing it.

Good preview guys, even if I'm eager for the equipment lol. You revealed my two favorite creatures in the set more or less which is saying a lot.
I've predicted that Warlords are going to dominate Gen Con 2018. If you doubt me.....wait for next weeks equipment spoiler. Those two mages are about to be insane.

I think would have been interesting if Promotion raised the Level of the creature to which it is attached by one. That's what I feel that a "promotion" should do, anyway. Maybe even let the creature keep the level increase if the Promotion is Dispelled... though that would mean adding a token for Level +1.
I think it could have very interesting results. For example, what happens if a minor-creature-only enchantment is on a level two creature that is promoted...? I see a quasi-dispel tactic more easily usable by the Warlord: You may pay mana equal to the total cost of the enchantment to remove it... that sort of thing. This could also change the impact of a Stagger condition on a promoted Creature as well.

I think Promotion is going to really benefit the Bloodwave as it can stack with Vet Tokens. I'm mostly planning to put it on solid Level 2 Creatures such as Izimbila and Orc Butchers. I can also see Elven Soldiers getting some use out of it. It combos very nicely with formation spells such as Press the Attack and another that hasn't been revealed yet.

Yeah really enjoyed the spoilers and having Ash on was awesome too. He made some huge announcements about possible future sets and things that are in the pipeline next year.
I really like promotion it's a cheap spell to get an extra die and an armor. For only 2-3 mana it will allow both warlords to flip and reveal formations as well as use the extra formation abilities if necessary. It's also another thing Gurmash can cast. Warlord players are going to have more options and be a lot tougher to play against.
I'm really excited about the quick attack range units in this set.

I really enjoyed the previews, and am really looking forward to the Academy Warlord. The Warlord is my favorite Mage, and this set looks like it will give him a bunch of new competitive options.

Hey guys, thanks for doing all these amazing streams and videos for us. I think all of your set previews and card reviews are great, I certainly watched all of them.
Will you do a full card review for all Warlord Academy cards? If so when can we expect it?
I am really looking forward to buff up my Bloodwave Warlord decks.
