My friend and I are trying to form a Mage Wars group/league in South Eastern PA. We are going to hold our first get together at The Games Keep in West Chester PA on Saturday May 25th starting at 12pm. This first gathering will be a casual event to meet other local players and have a few friendly games. So grab your copy of Mage Wars and come out and join us!
Please let me know if you are planning on making it out on the 25th by posting below so we can make sure we have enough space. Any questions you might have can also go below. If you can’t attend May 25th but are still interested in playing Mage Wars with us, let me know so we can figure out how many interested players there are in the area and figure out the best days to run future events. Thanks and I look forward to seeing some new faces in the arena!

Hi Tom,
I am going to try to make it out there, but I can't say for sure.
I am in central Jersey so it is about 1 and 1/2 hours for me to make the trip.
I am trying to get a group started in central Jersey at the Gamer's Realm.

Really hope you can make it out on the 25th. I would be great to meet you! I have also posted this event over on this thread (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/970308/mage-wars-in-south-eastern-pa) at Board Game Geek and it looks like there is quite a bit of interest already. A lot of folks are interested in learning to play, but there will definitely be room for some experienced match-ups as well.
I see that Gamer's Realm is located just east of Trenton which isn't too far from my house in Northeast Philadelphia. I would love to come out and game with you guys sometime. When do you usually meet up?

Hey Tom, I hit this thread up on BGG, I live in West Philly. Still hoping to go to your West chester meet; however, if you wanted to hike to Trenton on a Wednesday perhaps we could car pool? Or we could meet for a session here in the area any day of the week.

We are usually there on Wednesday afternoon/evenings. I also get there every other Saturday around 4 or 5. Unfortunately I am currently the only player right now- trying to get the other board gamers to give it a go.
Weeknights are pretty busy for me so I doubt I would be able to make it on a Wednesday. Saturdays are a possibility though. Let me know next time you plan on being there on a Saturday.

Cool. I haven't been there in a while but it is a great store. I have actually hosted a few Heroscape tournaments there in the past.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I would really appreciate the help if we have to teach a bunch of people. It would be fantastic if you could have a couple of apprentice spellbooks ready in case we will need them. I will also have a selection of apprentice books pre-made as well.
I assume everyone responding here has the game and at least has an idea of how to play. There were at least two people over on the BGG boards that expressed interest in coming out an learning to play. We may also be able to entice a few of the regular board gamers that will be at the store that day to learn the game. Hopefully as the date gets closer we can get a better picture of who is coming and who will need to be taught how to play.

Very cool! Judging from your many posts on this site, I have a feeling I am going to learn a lot about this game while having my ass handed to me. :D Really looking forward to it!

I wanna thank Tom and The Games Keep for being such gracious hosts and for the great time we had! I know we'll be looking to repeat our visit when we can.
It was also really good good to have so many people on hand to learn the game. I'm definitely going to come next time with some prebuilt apprentice books to make teaching easier.

Hey everybody! I had a great time at our first get together. Can't wait to do it all again! Let's all keep an eye on this thread and stay in touch. I am going to see if I can put something together for June or July at the latest. Also wouldn't mind getting together in smaller groups if our schedules can match up.

Well, it looks like June and July are out for me. Stupid real life just won't cut me some slack!
Just because I can't get together shouldn't stop everyone else from playing. I have been in touch with Karl at The Games Keep and he says that any Saturday in July except the 13th would be okay to play there. If there is enough interest I can tell him that some people are planning on getting together to play. Feel free to speak up and see what dates work for everyone!

I wanted to post that I think I am free this coming weekend (July 13-14) and was wondering if anyone wanted to try and get together and play some Mage Wars. I just picked up the Conquest of Kumanjaro set and am dying to try it out.
Also, I spoke with Karl at the Games Keep and we can have another get together at his store in early August (I am thinking August 3rd or 4th). He has the new Unholy Tides promo kit available for us! If anyone is interested please let me know and I can start to finalize the details.

There will be another Mage Wars get together at the Games Keep in West Chester PA on Saturday August 3rd starting at 12pm. This is going to be another casual get together to meet up and play. So bring your spellbooks and a good attitude and come on out and join us. Both newbies and old pros are welcome. Hopefully once this hectic summer is over I can actually plan a few tournaments along with these general meet-ups. Well, it doesn't look like there is any interest in a get together this Saturday so I think I am just going to cancel it instead of hanging out in the store all day on the off chance someone will show up. Keep your eyes out for my next attempt in late August or September.

I will be at WBC all week in Lanscaster this summer. We can plan on some matches in the open gaming area if you are around.

I am trying to see if I can make it out to WBC Friday-Sunday. The more Mage Wars players that were attending, the easier it would be for me to justify the cost. Plus I could use the practice for GenCon the following week!

I will be back in Philadelphia next month (specifically the 16th) and I am always down for playing some Mage Wars. I'm sure we can find a time to meet up once I'm in town; I should be free most evenings as of now. Also, I tend to travel to Lancaster about once a month if that is better for you.

Oh nor PA, yeah, kinda far. Lol. But nonetheless, it would still be nice to travel for the competition. APRIL 5th at THE GAME ROOM in Woodbridge NJ mall, they are also hosting tabletop day. And I was told MW should more than likely be played there. If not, I have mine in the trunk of my car. Lol. If anyone is interested in meeting me there, plz PM me. I think it's from 12 -8pm. Thx. I'm guessing some other day I'll have to catch up with the PA play groups.

I'm interested. I recently got a new job that lets me schedule things in advice, like a normal human. Let me look at my schedule when I'm more awake, but Sundays are now my weekend day off.

I live in the delco area. So anywhere from the city to West Chester is easily doable. No rush on this, and it would be nice if we could get group going in the area.

Ok, so I've spoke with someone from Showcase comics and it sounds like they usually have space to play. They've recently opened an additional store in Swarthmore and always welcome new players for all games. Their hours for Sunday are 11am-6pm. Let me know if this location works for everyone. Also, let's settle on a date.

The Games Keep has indeed moved to a new and much improved location. The store now has a huge space dedicated to playing games. The two stores are both about an hour away from me but I would definitely prefer to meet up at The Games Keep to include as many people as possible. Does this location work for your group rant?
As for dates, I am fairly certain I can make any Sunday in November except for Nov 2nd.
