General Discussion / Re: How important is Mana?
« on: August 07, 2018, 06:53:40 AM »
Mana is important because it limits quality of your actions in turn.
In my last game I played Warlord against mana denial Wizard. Game was close and if I wouldn't have run two spaces in the round he had cast the gate, he could have summoned one more creature that could give him victory. It was just one mana but it was enough for denying him an action. Also it was mana I saved that round that allowed me to act normally after his attempts at mana denial.

Druid herself doesn't need vine spells. It's Vine Tree that needs them. We got first vine attack spell, another vine enchantment in this expansion and two vine conjurations.
There's Fellela for druid and she can use vine markers to cast vine enchantments on distant targets.

Potions don't use slots and you can have few of them at the same time as long as they are different potions. You can't have two copies of same object attached to single object or zone.

Can swarms gain life from Etherian Lifetree?
Killer bees seem really good with it - flying, elusive, 6 dice critical damage for 7 mana and 2 sbp.

There's unofficial topic on the next expansions MW Academy Druid and Elementalist announced

I'm not asking about effect of the enchantment but other spell that has 'whenever your Mage casts or reveals a xx spell' effect.

21
Does it still count as revealing an enchantment for purposes of 'whenever your Mage casts or reveals a xx spell' effects?
Quote
The second cost, next to the open eye, is the reveal cost, which
you may pay when the spell is revealed. When an enchantment is
revealed, if the reveal cost is not paid, because you can’t pay it or
choose not to, the spell is destroyed immediately without effect.

Here's the biggest news you're gonna need to know about for 2018:

My little brother is playing Mage Wars now!!!! I'm so ecstatic about this. The Grizzly brothers are gonna take over!
Take your brother to Europe and fight German bear brothers from Berlin.

During casting any spell retains its properties like target and subtypes. That's why you can't cast psychic enchantment on psychic immune creature.
Only after resolve spell step enhancements temporarily lose their properties.

Can I put Rage token on a creature I mind control?
If I can will Rage token stay on the creature if MC gets dispelled before CoR gets discarded?

I wonder how it would be if instead of big Arena expansions AW would do supplementary Arena expansions to two Academy expansions. Something between Conquest of Kumanjaro and Lost Grimoire focused on mages from previous two Academy expansions.

Rules supplement:
Quote
If the extra is made against the same defender, it will not trigger an additional Counterstrike or Damage Barrier. If the
attacking creature becomes affected by a condition acquired from the counterstrike or damage barrier (such as being stunned
or dazed), its extra attack will be affected, and the condition marker will remain on the creature until end of the next round (if
it has an “end of action phase” effect, as per rules for conditions acquired from a damage barrier or counterstrike)

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: spellbind
« on: October 16, 2017, 03:48:02 PM »
How about making the spellbind power a one-shot thing?

That is, the wand in your book is a blank slate, waiting for a spell to be bound to it, but once one is bound, that's it. the spell cannot be swapped out. You have effectively made a Wand of Teleport, or a Wand of Dissolve, or a Wand of Lightning Bolt.

That way you would get the power to adapt to the game situation you find yourself in, but do not have a completely mutable toolbox at your command for every time the game state changes.

That would work for me, I think.

What happens when I return wand to spellbook by casting other item on its slot? Maybe even other wand.
