So, I'm pretty certain I know how this works, but just in case I'm wrong and it salvages a good deck idea before I checked the cards... ;)

Burnproof creatures will still take damage from Magma Golem right? Only Flame Immune creatures wouldn't?

Yes. Burnproof prevents you from having a burn placed on you, not from take flame damage.

Yes, I was sure I had it right. One of those genius ideas I had whilst driving that didn't work when I checked the cards - I thought Magma Golem inflicted the Burn damage on others, but it gets converted to Flame direct damage.
