Ivarium Longbow on Ivarium Paladin
« on: January 26, 2017, 09:48:04 AM »
So, as the topic suggests: Has anyone made a deck that puts the Ivarium Longbow on Ivarium Paladin?

Currently, I have 3 Paladin Books with 3 different strategies, but in one of my books, ive tried having the longbow as an option. This is the least agressive of my paladin books and the only one that uses royal archers. I also have the dwarves with intercept to help protect from counter range strategies.

In the end though, its hard to warrent the bow as one of paladin's abilities specifically states the need for a melee attack. Also, he has so many good options for equipment in both hand (sword, morningstar, shield, healing/mage wand) that its hard to warrent a bow. Not to mention that all his auras are benificiwl when he is in the same zone as his creatures, making the option to sit in the back and fire arrows less tempting....

So in the end, has anyone successfully used the longbow in his book---i mean the weapon has his namesake, but aside from that----the item struggles to work.

Now im not looking for super-competitive books, but rather fun books, but with reasonable quality...i mean, the longbow has never really been a super competitive item anyway in any book ive seen, but I was hoping it would at least work in his book.

I'm here just looking for a fun discussion---so shoot away with suggestions!

Cheers!

I have used the bow with a paladin. The bow with akiro's and Hawkeye is how you get pop shots while usually having a spawnpoint behind you. It doesn't go super well with the Paladin, but view it as a free hurl rock+ per round. I used it with Light of Dawns spawning from the temple.  I suppose you could Steep Hill, but then it starts to get super mana intensive. If they run under your bow range just challenge and hit them in the face (if you prepped a BS on yourself)

I only used the bow with jojktari to defend a lair with build-in +1. It's cheaper than her bow manawise and that worked pretty well. But for the Paladin it seems not to be the weapon of choice.

The only mage's I would use a bow with is:
-Druid: Because of hindering vines.
-Dwarf Warlord: Since he don't get the +1 melee, he is also a good def mage.
-Priestess: Because reasons. (mostly because of guard angle)

- necromancer instead of meditate amulet (possible)
- Johktari (although I prefer the 3 in-school weapons)
- Siren might have some utility with the bow. Gonna try that out.

When in doubt kill it with fire? I never doubt and crush them right away.

I have a Paladin book with Archers that's been working well. The Paladin doesn't use a bow himself though, he's there to Guard and Intercept.

I ran a zombie necro with the bow before. It worked well and was fun. I used the graveyard to spawn zombies, shoot creatures with the bow then have my zombies go in for the final blow. I did this bc i was also using ziggurat of undeath so when my zombos got the last hit i vould reanimate and i could bc i saved mana by using the bow

Actually, the one book I have that makes heavy use of a bow is my Druid... (Hunting Bow not Ivarium)

I use the resplendent bow on the priest. Pretty sure it would work just as good for the paladin. I think the ivarium could work well although the differences should be noted and strategy changed accordingly depending on which you choose. The trade off is the peircing and the range 2 for light damage and the ability to hit stuff in the same zone as you. I've been considering the resplendent bow in my paladin for awhile just havent been able to try it yet.
