Strategy and Tactics / Re: Jimilia Necro vs Biblo Gen Con 2016 Necro!

Only if you play slowly. But nevertheless at the end of a match you know for sure who is the King, not just by counting numbers or points, but by the dust on the ground of the arena.

You can always use the Timer function on Octgn to limit the Planning or Action Phase.

Hi, this is very interesting indeed. After one of the last commentaries with Schneeente, we faced some critics about our style and i realized for myself, that i might have been too harsh from time to time, although i always try to be polite and helpful to the players i'm watching, also and especially to new players, because I want them to continue playing. But at the same time I also want them to know that they could have done better and why some of their move are not the best and other options would have been better.
F.e. Enti quoted what i said when Marked for Death was revealed on Cassiel. I was saying "unglaublich schlecht" what is translated "unbelievable bad". But I also try to explain why i come to this conclusion. Spending 4 mana and an action to only gain 1 dice for one attack that will probably kill the target is not a very good choice. A single attack spell could have done the same with a higher chance of success. Of course I don't know what spells are in the Necromancers Deck. So my critic could also mean: For these situations, don't use Marked for Death and have more attack spells in your deck. So please don't get me wrong: With "unbelievably bad" or a phrase like that  I never mean the player, but only a certain move in a certain situation.
I know that the guys from Arcane Duels have a different approach to the commentaries and I hope both of our styles can offer something people like.

Rules Discussion / Re: Sacrificial Altar and Eternal servant
« on: February 10, 2017, 08:20:00 AM »
That is not the question. As I said, we all know the rule. Question is: Does the rule make sense concerning this issue?
A rule (or a law) is not created for nothing. There has to be an issue before, that the rule (or the law) should prevent in the future.
I totally understand why the rule exists: It is because you should not be able to Mind Control an enemy creature, attack with it and then sacrifice it right after to get a double benefit.
But I do not understand why this rule should be applied to the Sacrificial Altar issue discribes above, since there should be no issue at all.
That is why I am asking for Zuberis opinion on this :)

So we know what is written in the codex now. What is your opinion on this concerning the Altar and sacrificing reanimated (enemy) creatures?

Makes no sense to me personally and I would understand the owner-controller-term otherwise. The Altar wants to make sure, that you can only sacrifice a creature, that initial mana cost has been paid by you.

Apparently you can only sac creatures you "control and own".

This has something to do with Mind controling an enemy creature. You cannot sacrifice them. But you should be able to sacrifice a creature, that you brought back in the game via reanimating. Think of it this way: When you are the one summoning the creature, then you can sacrifice it, when you have the control over it at this time.

Rules Discussion / Re: Pillar of Rifhteous Flame and upkeep timing

With enemies in its zone, the Pillar does at least 4 attacks plus one attack each time an enemy creature enters the zone. I'd say: Powerlevel over 9000!

Your 4 Lashers just told me in secret, that  they miss one or two Bloodspine Walls. But you did not hear it from me...  ;)

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Chant of Rage : the new Teleport
« on: February 07, 2017, 12:17:34 PM »
The best counter to Chant of Rage is to have more creatures than your enemy. If he reveals the enchantment on one of your creatures, you just move this creature at the end of the round, when all of your opponents creatures are already moved and cannot attack (Teleport is better in this regard)
New round, you have time to adapt to the song in many ways.

When combined with Traps or Passage attacks from walls, the Chant of Rage is brought to full potential. You also can get rid of a steadfast guard or block a spell from an annoying Familiar with it.

To the initial questions ->

The Water Elemental pushes the target eventually. The effect and the ability to follow will be handled in the Damage and Effects Step. For the Counterstrike Step, both creatures, Defender and Water Elemental are in the same zone again, so the Counterstrike is possible.

Who knows ... maybe there will be a way for the warlord in the future to use his commands without wasting one of his precious actions.
