I'm also in the Western 'Burbs. Puddnhead and I often play together, though as he said, life puts some constraints on our time. Hit us up if you're ever out our way.

Using Mage wand with steal equipment is both action efficient and hilarious!

And gets around Jinx!  Unfortunately, you do not get to throw your 12 attack dice for the round if you use Steal Equipment.

My favorite use for steal equipment was to steal another Forcemaster's Galvitar so that she'd have to dissolve it and then re-cast it in order to hit me with it.  That was hilarious.

Not to me it wasn't!!!

Hey did you ever update this book? If you still want opinions let me know ;P

I got Forged in Fire for Christmas, so I've made a couple tweaks. Took out the Thoughtspores, reduced to one invisible fist, got rid of the teleport trap. Added 2 lion savagery, and swapped out the storm drake for dragonscale hauberk. A few tweaks in quantities of various cards.
Tried going toe to toe with the Adramelech Warlock, and was probably too aggressive once I got set on fire. Got myself burned up pretty bad. I really want to pick up Druid vs. Necromancer and get some Acid Balls in my book.
I may try again soon, though I just recently got accepted as a playtester, so I'm eager to try out some of the current round of tests.

You should listen to episode 17 of the Mage Wars Monday Pod Cast, by Let's level up.

Already downloaded it. Haven't had time to listen yet, but I'll do so soon!

I was just about to ask you why you did not include acid ball.

Mostly because I built the book before I had a copy of Acid Ball. I think I'm also only just realizing how great corrode is.

I've played a couple games with it so far, and my first turn is usually to QC cheetah speed and then move two spaces and drop the battle forge. With turn two, I use the forge to get out galvitar and move two again and either drop mongoose agility or pull the enemy Mage into engagement. The creatures are more for flexibility, and if I do bring them out tend to attach Force Push or some other spell to manipulate the battlefield.
I like the Forcemaster quite a bit, but I think I tend to play her too cautiously. I need to. To worry so much about getting hit myself and rely on her abilities to avoid attacks to keep her up.
Also, I only have the base set and FMvsWL (and the dice tower backer promos), so I'm a bit limited in my options. For now, I really only play casually, but I'm looking to improve my game. :)

Looking for some feedback on this build. As is typical with the FM, the goal is to get to the opposing mage quickly and use the battle forge to drop equipment on the way. Any thoughts or improvements on it? Better strategies?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Mage Wars Arena Counters
« on: December 09, 2014, 03:21:38 PM »
Maybe, but that doesn't mean it's the final components, nor does it mean there won't be an option for alternate colors. I know that the marker packs aren't that expensive, but they are often out of stock, and if I'm thinking about buying another core set anyway, it would be cool to get the added bonus of additional markers.

General Discussion / Mage Wars Arena Counters
« on: December 09, 2014, 02:28:53 PM »
I searched around the forums and didn't find this anywhere, but I had a question about the new edition of the core Mage Wars game.
I seems like the mages and spells will be identical to the current core set (with the addition of extra copies of some spells and new artwork on others), but will the mage counters be the same colors (i.e. red and blue)? It would be nice to have them be different colors so as to buy the core set again to get the alternate arena, new copes of all the core cards etc, but to be able to use the counters to play with 4 players.
Any plans to do that?
