Here you go, one of the finest workhorse creatures for the warlord, Anvil Throne Crossbowman! You can find the article >>Here<< (http://www.arcanewonders.com/arcane-wonders/forged-in-fire-preview-anvil-throne-crossbowman)

Fulfills a much needed role for the War school. Pretty versatile, has a better melee attack than the other archers as well, and the Piercing +2 is really nice.

I love him :)
He is really an universal soldier. Moderata range attack, moderate melee attack. He is fully prepared for taking boosts from "Battle Orders".
-
Much needed buffer between slinger and Grimson. Solid.
-
With the Armory + Hawkeye + "Release Volley!" = Mobile Balista.
-
Called it, :P
I wish he had 1 more health, but I guess we'll see if his versatility more than makes up for his lower survival stats. Also, his art is top noch; very nice.

What I was thinking exactly.
I'm also really glad he isn't Lightning +2!

This guy is my favorite creature from FiF. Put him behind a wall and an Archers Watchtower and let him blast away. Add in the Take Aim! Battle Order and The Lord of Fire really dislikes two of these guys.
-
I see a bigger synergy with a old orc lord more than witn new dwarf lord. Piericng +2 is enoug. What i would prefer is release volley from orc lord. Pile of dirt + watchtower will be my basic defensive combo right from the start :-)

I would have preferred a 4 dice ranged attack without Piercing due to the prevalence of ways for the Warlord (particularly Anvil Throne) to gain Piercing, but he still looks like a solid creature. Overall he looks a bit better for the Bloodwave Warlord than the Anvil Throne Warlord because Release Volley is going to be more helpful than Take Aim with this guy.

And he benefits from Vet tokens nicely too, giving him 2 armor and 4 melee.

Super Solid creature.
Seems to me like the support unit Ehen focusing on those conjurations who usually only habe high armor to protect themselves. Maybe a crossbow-'conjuration' control with the construction yard is playable now.
Take out their Forges, wizard Towers, Temples, let the yard spawn those cheap walls / watchtowers / Garrison posts
Melee with the Mage and throw in another cheap spell / big creature, changing Evers 2 turns.
Minotaurs Labirinth lead by dwarven crossbows? :)
-
@julid: The yard is not a spawnpoint. Just a mana container.

I was thinking that he meant to use the Crossbowmen to shoot up opponents conjurations to generate mana on the Yard....

I dont like that these dwarfs have less durability than elven archers
each level 3
11mana vs 12
1 armor each
8hp versus 9hp
lightning+1 versus none
ranged attach 3/2pierce versus 4/1

Oh boy is this guy rocking! I like him a fair bit simply due to the fact he's not useless in close quarters. So many times a good solid range position gets overrun by swarming enemies, but these guys can swing for respectable damage with those short axes of theirs.
Fortify Position the square he's in and he's got a little more staying power.
I'm ok with him having the one less life than the elves....yeah it makes no sense thematically but the extra piercing and again the not dying like a punk in close quarters make him very nasty indeed. I could almost see using a Bulls Endurance on one that's gotten veteran status.

I disagree because the Warlord has plenty of things he can do to buff them. From the battle orders he has "Hold the Line" and "Take Aim" and the old Warlord has "Release Volley".
They both have access to Armory, Fortified Position, Standard Bearer, not to mention the usual cards from other schools. They can stack armor pretty readily and then be quite a pain to take down.

Elves are just better than dwarves. ;)

My first thought was this as well until I used my quick cast action to cast Quick March! battle order and two of these guys ran across the arena, dropped 6 dice on a wounded Infernian Scourger, and at the end of the round I conquered the idol of pestilence and replaced it with a shiny new archer's watchtower.
I personally feel that Anvil Throne can play more aggressively with his abilities than the Bloodwave. Although, in most situations, the Bloodwave can squeeze 1 - 2 more attack dice from his troops.
