General Discussion / Re: It´s 2018 -- Any news?
« on: June 25, 2018, 05:26:23 PM »
maybe we'll 2 new academy mages + 2 new arena mages + a new battleground play-mode during the summer, but AW just forgot to anounce it!!!
Oh my god, I am still reading a lot here and most of the time to lazy to answer with my smartphone. But this one is hilarious!!!
Yeah AW propably forgot to bring all their cool stuff to the exhibitions and to do any marketing. Maybe all the new arena expansions are that super awesome, that they believe they will sell great without any effort to sell them needed :)

the sarcasm level is over 9000

-more playtesters available so that they don't have to rely on the judgment of people who haven't played the game in years.

You really have no idea how playtesting works. I cannot speak for the activity of other playtesters but I'd imagine all of us have played a game in the last 6 months. Do you really think that the playtesters have little to no idea of the game and current meta?

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: How to make Mage Wars faster
« on: June 20, 2018, 02:01:46 AM »
Doesn't "Lesser Teleport" already make the game extremely faster?
I'm not convinced rushing with lesser teleport is that used or viable as of yet.

Agreed. I'd rather be fast.

Mages / Re: Thoughts about the Priestess
« on: June 20, 2018, 01:58:44 AM »
Personally I wouldn't waste actions on a spawn point unless I was 90+% sure that I could destroy it in a single turn. Other than Battle Forge and Libro Mortis then I mostly just ignore the spawn point and only deal with problem objects, as a spawn point holds useless mana if it's controller has nothing to cast out of it.

Additionally Battle Forge removal using swell et al creates a interesting situation where you are damned if do and damned if you do not destroy it. This is due to the fact that only above average rolls destroy it with a single spell and using 2 actions gives your opponent tempo.

That would be cool so then you can use the abilities for the acedemy mages in arena

Except for the fact that the mage abilities were never meant for multi zone play and would be weak alt mage versions.

Would fix very little, unless of course the IP was released and republished in a different house. I do not see the need for it though.

Spells / Re: Hydra regeneration as a zombie
« on: June 14, 2018, 01:19:02 PM »
I think you missed a point. There is ONE, countem, one, zombie in this game that can heal itself at all, and nobody plays it.  Anything raised with rise again or the like has finite life and CANNOT  heal at all, in any way. So even though it doesn't lose the trait "regenerate 2" it still cannot recover any accrued damage ever.

Incorrect. I have books with Unstable Zombie in.

This kind of game favours the swarm build and anyone who does not is at a distinct disadvantage.

Spells / Re: favorite conjuration
« on: January 31, 2018, 07:59:39 AM »
Battle Forge is my favourite conjuration. I would replace the first mana crystal in most books with this as not only does it give the same level of extra channelling but also gives a free action for an extra 3 mana.

"your zone" isn't allways controled!
if you are in a zone with an enemy creature, it's "your zone" but you don't control it.

I'd overlooked that in the search for a moniker that works!

Rules Discussion / Re: force pull through Mind's eye

Agreed.  The minds eye becomes the source and thus the target is pulled towards the eye.

This is interesting.

I would say that "your" is something that you control. Your Zone is a zone that you control. Zonal control is dealt with in the FiF rules. Thus making it also synonymous with friendly.

Your needs a clear moniker now we have a nebulous use. Thus negating the English use of it. It is either owned or controlled and all cards are then tied to it for good or ill. In case that break the game we errata from here. All is then reflected in the rules supplement.

Rules Discussion / Re: Chant of Rage movement
« on: January 30, 2018, 11:33:45 PM »
Could´nt you argue that you had to try to move towards an opponent with a Hate token?

So that you would have to headbang a solid wall :)

No a wall is a barrier and thus if the "hated" target is behind it then you do not have to move through it unless it has passage attacks.

Small caveat question? Would it have to move if it had climbing?
