General Discussion / Re: Long Turns and Game Length Limitations
« on: February 03, 2013, 02:39:00 AM »
I've had exactly the same worries about tournaments. It's confirmed that rounds are 90 mins (Facebook post) so it stands to reason that a pretty powerful tactic is gunna be to go for the time limit/life score win with Priestess and her TON of heals, buffs and defensive strategies.

If you can get over that 'hump' of fast, rush books damaging you (Warlock fireball, creature rush etc) then I don't really see other decks being able to compete with the combo of life gain ability and mass heal.

A real issue in my opinion.

From the facebook page :

The keyword "Cantrip" allows the spell to be placed back in your Spellbook if it is destroyed.

General Discussion / Re: Cards from the core set in the expansion?

That sounds like a pretty elegant solution to the books being playable out of the box and having a lot of cool new content.

Hats off.... again! It's a great game.

General Discussion / Re: Best way to buy/start MW if you're into comp/OP

Hey there! Good to 'meet'  B)

My take on this is the same as other card games I've played, depends how much you want/don't want to move stuff around your spellbooks. Clearly staples and stock cards will feature in many spellbooks so singles might be the way to go.

There's a few sites (1?) starting to set up the very early stages of selling but appear to have intentionally priced themselves out of international shipping ($30 for a singles order <$75), that's a LOT for a few cards.

Also depends a bit if the new expansion includes some of these staple cards or is purely new content (certainly my preference).

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Soft play board (arena)
« on: January 22, 2013, 08:08:12 AM »
I think a soft playboard would be a great addition. The box is huge and mine is already starting to get a bit battered.

If the game goes into any kind of tourney play, a soft playboard would really help with the game's portability. You'd only need to ferry around spellbooks, a baggy with counters in, the Mage sheet tucked into a spellbook and the soft board. Much better.

League / Tournament Play / Re: UK interest

Hiya,

Very much interested in the UK scene especially if it takes off and some tourneys get off the ground. Not sure how well the game would lend itself to tourney play mind you....

I'm in Winchester, Hampshire and am planning to go to the Brum Games Expo so might catch you there if nothing else.
