General Discussion / Re: No Armour in War School

Maybe look to the Warlord card? Often there's things in the pictures that appear in the game.

Perhaps a set of War Armour that gives a better bonus as you say or gives you a defence too, hell the Forcemaster has a defence built in so why not a really good set of armour?

Could this be the first sighting of Necromancer v Druid?  The art fits the mages, that's for sure.

Nice looking books!

I'm not sure it does and as a friend pointed out to me, these are billed as a new Spellbook pack, not the same as expansion pack (Druid vs Necro). So with that in mind... what mages are they for??!

First I would rouse the beast and then I would slam Valshalla until she was crippled.
I was stunned by that fact that afterwords I started to burn.
As if by divine intervention, our relationship started to dissolve.
I dispelled all previous notions of her being all that holy.
After that I decided the upkeep wasn't worth the cost.
It was as if she had some sort of bloodlust.
I was in agony, my heart, turn to stone, she banished me from the apartment, I felt like my heart was going to explode.
Returning to my old lair, I could only lay hands on myself.
At first I thought I would retaliate, fight tooth and nail, but then I became more passive.
So now all I do is sleep.

Whoa, steady on... too much coffee?

Err action markers, just keeping it on-topic  :)

A funny image eh?

You could have a hell of a night with the Angel of Light and Angel of Lightning too B) Valshalla particularly looks like a good time gal to me.

Bit of Bull Endurance, Mongoose Agility and Barry White playing on The Horn of Gothos....

I can see it now, the Forcemaster facedown in the new Holy fountain, her sick floating on the water whilst the Warlock tries to light his own gas with a botched bit of fire magic.

Quality.

Currently no - the online spell book builder was being worked on but it got pushed back

The online book builder is sorely needed if you ask me. The options out there at the minute are either so clunky and unwieldy as to be pretty unusable or still on Tome 1 release only...

League / Tournament Play / Re: UK Players

Potentially two players but we both play minis tournaments so not always available.  Hopefully will be at the Games Expo but may be playing Warmachine the whole weekend.

Blurgh, miniatures games  :cheer:

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Personally I'd say yes, that is too slow, I like things like fast set-ups and action advantage myself though. Mage Wars is (in my opinion) at least 50% about tactics and if you are still planning to build up on turn 4-5 in most games.... you are setting up for failure vs quick kill decks.

"If the attack makes multiple attacks against the same or different objects, it gains this bonus only for the first attack it can make with this bonus. "

Yep... sadly the first illogical thing I've come across in MW. No thematic/logical reason why it would only apply to the first attack so assume it's a balance thang?

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Tempo: an in depth look,

Well, I for one enjoy reading well thought out thoughts and strategy articles like this, keep them coming!

I also happen to agree with you, dominating action advantage and tempo as you put it, is key to winning regularly.

Use triple strike or any multi-attack and you will chew through the Forcefield in no time. all you need to do is make 4 attacks a round. The only time Forcfield shines is against solo builds and big creature builds. It is only ok against swarms.

Right, so *just* those 4 attacks then?  ;) then onto her Defence shield and all that with only one card that stays in play.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for strong cards and pushing the envelope, hell, it's one of my favourite things in a new set - looking out the powerful cards and pouring over new combos and stuff - but this one stood out like a thumb hit with a hammer for me.

I think the action savings are where it really struck me, it does the same or better than the same amount of Blocks for less and it regenerates and you can do all that in one action (as opposed to many). Just didn't feel like there was parity there.

As I say, not saying the sky is falling or anything and very early days but holy hell I think it's a strong card, especially when it nullifies certain spellbooks on its own!

The print version of Forcefield is a nerfed version of the one I wanted. It is way to easy to get rid of. I had 3 versions I liked this was the weakest of them. We had another enchant that was supposed to work with Forcefield but it got cut 1 week before print. When we voted on the final set cards.

Really? Wow, that's interesting to read. Not quite sure what to say other than Forcefield seeming to be very strong and that amount of mana to dispel it is quite an investment (assuming you even have the card) and often you won't have that spare with a melee juggernaut coming at you like a runaway train.

:woohoo:  That sounds awesome!  So will the druid specialize in Nature and Earth?

Again, that's not been announced. Lotsa speculation here though :

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Counter-rush tactics

Be aggressive first :)
Make use of teleport and ranged spells to limit the attacks coming from him.
Do not underestimate the power of guard. Bringing out a creature and having them guard every turn can save you a boat load of hit points.
Like wise, block and reverse attack enchantments are amazing against this sort of tactic.

Above all else, remember that the object of the game is to kill your opponent. Creatures, enchantments and equipment cast by your opponent can often be a distraction. Keep your eyes on the prize ;)

Sound advice.

Also employ stuff that makes the aggressive player really pay for his tactics - even a simple Damage Barrier and things like the Suppression Orb and/or Mordok's Obelisk can swing things very much in your favour.
