Title: Hidden uses: Elusive trait...
Post by: Guru of Mana on November 09, 2016, 05:57:34 PM
Hello everyone!

I will once in a while be posting these unique views and unknown strategies for you to use and try!

Lumbering: Creature is always hindered
Elusive: immune to hinder. Can ignore guards when attacking.

Imagine an acrobatic zombie!

Also benefits fast and direct charging attacks.

But only Evade, and Sneak Attack can do this to a Zombie...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is in the Rules Suppliment under Lumbering:

The creature’s “hindrance” is caused by the creature being clumsy or hobbled, and has nothing to do with the
presence of enemy creatures. Thus, if it is able to ignore enemy creatures, which would normally cause it to not
be hindered by them, this has no effect on the creature’s movement restriction, and it can still only take one
move action per round.

Also, Elusive =/= "immune to hinder."

Elusive means you can't be hindered by creatures. Lumbering isn't being hindered by creatures (as per Puddnhead's post). And Elusive creatures are still hindered by other non-creature effects, like Vine markers, Terrain, etc.

Yes, Vine Markers being the really common circumstance.

Yes, Vine Markers being the really common circumstance.

It also occurs with a lot of the Domination tiles, but I seem to be in a minority of Mage Warriors who plays that format.

And with Paladin vs Siren, I think we'll see Elusive vs Terrain showing up a lot more often, as many of the Conjuration - Terrain cards hinder non-flying (and often non-aquatic) creatures... and Elusive won't help in this regard. Although the song that says "This creature cannot be hindered" will work against non-creature sources of hindering.

Though, since it is a psychic spell, it will not work on Non-Living Creatures.

Just so you know - being non-living does not mean it must be psychic immune.

So far as I know, all undead are psychic immune, but there are nonliving that are not psychic immune.
