Rules Discussion / Necromancer + Plagued
« on: March 24, 2018, 02:58:23 AM »
Just curious. Since Necromancer is immune to all poison effects and damage, could he still attach a Plagued curse enchantment to himself to basically make himself a Mini-Malacoda, just never applying damage to himself and only to those around him?

Or does his immunity apply to the very concept of that card being a "poison" enchantment and therefore not a legal target for attachment to start?

What is the sword's order of action then. Particularly in the scenario of attaching a Rise Again to it?

Say the target creature has only 2 health left. You strike with Sectarus loaded with a Rise Again, but roll 4 Damage.
Can you attach Rise Again and then kill it with the 4 damage, then trigger the Rise Again. Or does the 4 damage have to be applied before the loaded Rise Again can be attached, therefore missing the opportunity?

Rules Discussion / Multiple Curse Items
« on: March 13, 2018, 09:17:14 PM »
As normal, any mage/creature/object can't have more than one of the same named enchantment attached to it.
However, can a Mage have different equipment cards with Curse Item attached simultaneously?

Just wondering since the objects are all separate, being equipment, but the equipment collectively are on the same mage.

Mages / Re: Who is she?

Would hope so! Would love something entirely new, that also felt appropriately new and not past-due like Paladin & Siren haha.

Would be interesting to also add more cultural mirror versions into Mage Wars. The Academy Forcemaster is quite Egyptian themed (which I hope maybe a future Necromancer might join), so an Eastern magic line would be sweet.

If another ever comes out, I think I'd be looking forward to a ghost/spirit commanding Necromancer. We've got skeletons and zombies, but the whole game only has one spirit creature. More would be awesome. Maybe some that can possess enemy creatures, giving Dark school a version of Mind Control.

But a swarm of all incorporeal creatures. mhmm that'd just be so fun to control.

I think I would also like to see ghosts explored a little more with the necro. Maybe some that use dissipate rather than an upkeep cost or some combination of the two.

I can agree. I would definitely like to see more Spirit types (Like Grey Wraith). Would be fun to have a full ghost/spirit necro. Give him a more otherwordly feel than skeletons or zombies.

Also, I think Necromancer needs a Familiar.

General Discussion / Re: Channel markers!!!
« on: May 27, 2017, 05:07:37 AM »
Yeah, the core set does come with too few channeling markers. I bought an extra core set however, not just for more channel markers of course, but for more core cards. But it did have the added benefit of offering more channel tokens, and action markers I repainted myself to now have 4 different sets.

Not that I suggest another core set to ease the channel markers problem. But if you're crafty at all, you could print and glue some of your own using some of the damage markers. Or can buy a package of small craft cubes and spraypaint them pink and have a small container or bowl of them to use as mana. 1 cube=1 mana.

Man that ninja one I hope is a soldier type. And I'm going to imagine a Legendary type.
Would be very sweet if it she had an Invisible Stalker sort of token. Hiding in the shadows and invisible, but attacks and becomes visible.

And that gun I simply need immediately!

These are very good. Nice job sir.

Thank you very much!  ;D

Currently trying to put together some simple instructions to share, but just not very good at making them easy to follow for everyone.

Another update, I have made two more, completing my current SB collection set of 4 builds. I also made some improvements (mostly simplicity) in the pattern to make producing them faster and with fewer pieces needed. And with the simpler more straightforward pattern, I'll be able to share so anyone else can also make and modify to their needs.

The Warlord is the only one I included an inserted picture to show the inner pocket, but all books have a pocket for tokens. Warlord is just the biggest since there are numerous Veteran Tokens.

I so desperately hope the Warlord gets some good level 1 and 2 creatures. That will help out his barrack tactics for sure, while leaving more SBP room since currently, you have to go out of school, paying more SBP for good 1 and 2 soldier creatures.

Every attempt I have tried with the barracks has ended in failure.  The startup costs in order to generate mana really set you back. you have to spend a minimum 20, to generate 3 a turn. You need to last past 7 rounds in order to break even.

You can "break even" a lot earlier than turn 7 when you factor in the action advantage of summoning Full-cast creatures 2 or more spaces away from your Barracks - e.g. to your Garrison Posts. My main Warlord enemy friend often opens with Barracks + Garrison Post, then drops another Garrison Post, in a "V" pattern (Garrison posts out front; Barracks in the middle of the back wall). From there, he has 3 different zones from which he can deploy creatures, and can summon regular-speed (non-Slow, non-Fast) Soldier creatures such that they can attack any of 8 different zones on their first activation. That's pretty huge!

As I often say, "Bloodwave Warlord is really good in multiplayer Domination." I fear that if the Warlord were any stronger, he'd be too good in Domination! I suspect he'll easily be the number 1 contender in Domination when Academy Warlord arrives.

Yeah, I believe the cost isn't as huge a deterrent when you consider the action advantage. I do like summoning creatures with choice of placement, while keeping my own Mage's actions free to use, which is often a Meditation Amulet or Ivarium Longbow.

And I just wish I could go into freeze/stasis and be woken when Warlord Academy arrives! I need it now!

As it stands, his only level 1 creatures are a tiny 4 health grunt, and a suicide bomber that can also be exploded by the enemy against you.
And only level 2 creature worth a damn is the Orc Butcher, otherwise the other two are ranged (slinger/alchemist)
Only at level 3+ does War have good creatures, but anyone can tell you how impossible it is to deploy & swarm every turn nothing but 3's and 4's.

So did a while back get the final details onto the Warlock book, but didn't update on here.
An interesting detail, the eye of the emblem 'follows' your own eyes.

Also, I just recently did a fairly basic Necromancer book. Just pretty much a base right now, but plan to also add on some embellishments and extras when I can track down some interesting enough to add to the cover. But as it stands, my favorite detail I did was the stitching effect. I might also repeat the effect on the backside, which at this time is rather blank except for the silver studs mirroring the front. I've also learned to buy straps, rather than make my own that wrap around for closure. Making them thin and appealing is a major hassle.

I'll try to mock up a sheet and simple instructions for anyone interested in the base pattern of these and then modify as you need.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Necro: skelly or Zombie

I use Skeletons. I think they're cooler. And they're able to heal, even if you lay down a Deathlock.
Plus I don't currently use an Armory, but I do like the option in knowing I can as my spellbook evolves.
