Website Support and Feedback / Favourite Mage profile field
« on: May 20, 2013, 12:35:51 PM »
I just added a new Profile Field to allow you to tell people what your favourite mage is.

Just go into your Forum Profile and select one of the Mages from the dropdown list. Save your profile and it will then appear above your forum sig.

Anyone have any ideas for other fun or useful profile fields we could add?

Website Support and Feedback / New online store
« on: May 15, 2013, 10:10:45 PM »
The new Arcane Wonders online store is now up and running

https://store.arcanewonders.com/home.php

The old store is now offline and will soon be replaced with a new CMS for all sorts of fun AW and MW content.

If you had an account on the old store it has not been transferred as the new and old e-commerce systems use different encryption methods.

If you have any issues with the new site please post them here and I will look at them ASAP.

I am just collecting some answers to questions about the new forum. If you have a question you think should be included post it here and I will add it.

Q: Is there any way to stay logged in?  Everytime I visit the forums I must re-enter my login and password.
A: Use the login page and then select the "Always stay logged in" option in the form.

Website Support and Feedback / Posting limits
« on: May 06, 2013, 04:11:59 PM »
Well  I had a surprise this morning. It appears that despite the moderation requirements that spammers are slipping in a posting their noxious posts.

As such I have changed the forum slightly so that until you have made two posts, you are going to be required to get your posts approved.

This added feature should hopefully stop the spammers or at least make it more difficult for them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Rules Discussion / Invisible and Guard
« on: March 29, 2013, 01:12:24 PM »
Ran into this yesterday. Invisible Stalker is in a zone with a creature with Guard. Stalker is Invisible and has Elusive and Pest.

Elusive lets you ignore creatures with Guard but as soon as the Stalker declares an attack it loses Elusive.

We eventually decided that since the Guard trigger and the loss of Elusive happened in the same step that I, as the controlling player, could determine what order they happened in.

I am just wondering if that was the correct solution?

General Discussion / Arena PDF
« on: December 20, 2012, 10:13:31 AM »
Are there any plans to make the Arena PDF available to TOs and stores?

I'd really like to be able to print out a few larger versions of the Arena for game nights at the store.

League / Tournament Play / Suggested Rule change for cons
« on: December 09, 2012, 08:48:34 PM »
Just wanted to start a discussion about tie breaker rules based on an earlier suggestion

Quote from: "Klaxas" post=2742

as for tie breakers after time runs out, here is my idea.  others are welcome.

use a point system to determine tie breakers.  give points for different conditions that encourage different strategies.  for example.

1 point for most remaining health (difference between life and damage)
1 point for most controlled zones (encourages creature heavy)
1 point for most remaining zone exclusive conjurations (encourages destruction of conjurations)
1 point for most equipment (encourages equip heavy melee builds and dispells)

During our event today (I'll post about it later) we discussed tie-breaker conditions and I was pointed to this post.

I thought it might be useful to take the discussion of tie-breakers out into its own topic to help focus discussion and make it easier for people to find.

I think it would be useful to have three or five (an odd number) conditions that people could use to judge games where their is no clear winner. The points above are a very good starting point but I did have a few comments.

I think that it would be easier if the conditions we just a single point and you got them for meeting the condition and also that the conditions not be tied to a specific type of build but to more general conditions

So some suggestions:

Reaping: your opponent has no creatures
Cower in fear: your opponent is still in their starting zone
Strip them bare: your opponent has no equipment remaining
Control the arena: you control more Zones by having the only creature or conjurations present
Overwhelm: you have twice as many creatures or conjurations than your opponent

There are, I think, a few issues with some of the original suggestions

Health: Remaining health is to necessarily an indication of damage done. Having a lot of equipment or using a lot of heal spells can give an opponent a low amount of damage that is really just indicative or a type of play-style or build

Equipment: this would just reward, and with the Health condition re-enforce, a specific style of build.

At comments, suggestions or changes?

General Discussion / Demo night in Calgary
« on: November 26, 2012, 10:49:13 PM »
A small turnout for our first demo night at Myth Games in Calgary but we did manage to sell a copy of the game after having a Warlock v. Beastmaster game get decided by the one wound inflicted by Rot

We used the Apprentice rulebooks but actually used full stats and the full game board for the demos. We had a fair bit of time to play and despite the smaller spell selection the games were all a great bunch of fun.

« on: November 13, 2012, 08:46:38 PM »
The folks at Trilogy Games in Calgary Alberta are working at getting organized Mage Wars gaming running at the store. They have the OP kits on order and are a registered tournament location.

Let me know if there are any gamers here from the Calgary area that are interested in getting together for some games.
