Spells / Re: Spells you would like to see
« on: November 01, 2012, 11:20:38 AM »
jmmeye2: some great ideas!

This made me think of the death curse in Dresden Files. This would be a great mechanic. You could put one death curse spell in your spellbook that has no summoning cost but a high spellbook cost. Once your mage dies you can activate it. This should be a strong spell with a chance to take out the other mage (if he is such a fool to kill you by himself) or at least some of his creatures. This would be even more interesting in a 3+ player game.

General Discussion / Re: Necro Posting cutoff

I'm with Mestrahd on this one. I'm strictly for "necroposting". If it was up to me I would ban people for opening a new thread for something where there is already a thread for.

I'd definitely like to have the 2nd Core Spell Tome. The Mage Booster Tomes also sound good. Maybe you could combine two of them and make them bigger. Like release only 3: Beastmaster-Warlock, Wizard-Priestess and one for the first expansion if needed.

Singles sound good but only as the last priority.

Alternative Play / Re: Any official variants to speed up a game?
« on: September 26, 2012, 05:11:40 AM »
This is of course not official, but I thought of something like this:

http://boardgamegeek.com/article/10132254#10132254

- After round 10 15 and 18 there comes an earthquake that damages everything.
- After round 10 and 15 both mages receive 15-15 extra mana
- After round x and y both mages get some direct damage.
- After round x healing spells cost double (this might need some extra balancing because of the priestess)
- etc...

It is an entire spread sheet but you did guess correctly what we looked at when it was built.

Health
Casting Cost
Armor
Attack Dice

Fast, normal, Slow, Aegis rating are all things we looked at. From this we got an average damage over life of the creature rating.

If you are allowed to make it available, please do so!

This doesn't really tell  what you mean by efficient. This thread is about attack vs armor.

By efficient I would think of the following combined somehow: how much it costs, how much life it has, how much armor, armor piercing,  attack, etc. so this way an efficient creature would be a cheap one with a lot of attack and armor.

This is a good question, I was also thinking about this. What are these top3 efficient cards?

I'm also for school packs. After all schools had their full packs some theme-packs are welcome, but only after the school packs.

The pre-built deck are also a good idea!

League / Tournament Play / Re: Organized Play

Allright, this is acceptable. I'm not happy, as there will be guaranteed no official play in my country so I'll have to get them later. As long as they are part of the expansions this might not be that much of a problem.

The mentioned promo cards make me worried. What about people that have no access to organized play? I don't think there will be any in Hungary for example.

How long till you will make them available for everyone?

General Discussion / Re: Mage Wars - Wiki

What about making one on Wikia? They have a lot of game related wikis. Already mentioned this in another thread: All cards (with images) and card effect keywords could have a separate entry.

General Questions / Re: Tanglevine question.

Thematically I'd say they do not move. Tanglevine has deep roots and holds strong onto the creature. Also waiting for the official answer.

General Questions / Re: Missing subtypes.

I think he was asking why it is missing from the Moonglow Amulet and not why it is on the other cards. Actually the Arcane Ring refers to mana spells.

Now I don't know whether equipements are considered spells but if yes this is probably really an error.

And in your humble opinion those most necessary spells would be...

I meant the cards mentioned by the playtesters in this thread, for example these: http://www.magewars.com/jsite/forum/spellbook-design-and-construction/134-list-of-common-spells-needed#181

Can you provide the weight of the Mage Wars main game and Core Spell Tome boxes? I would like to calculate international shipping. Thanks!
