So i have read some posts in the past and currently that discuss a tier of mages for mage wars. I thought i would give my 2 cents.

Now i havent thought about this in as much depth as i would like so some mages are uncertain on my list. These mages i will leave off the list. The mages i am certain about, will be posted below.

So far this book is an alpha version, but would go as follows, ideally:
T1: 19 mana - ring of ocean's depths, echo of the depths
T2: 15 mana + 1 on spawn - deploy gerard, nullify and move 1
T3: 10 mana + 1 on spawn + 1 on gerard - deploy thrasher, cast thrasher, leather
T4: 10 mana +1 on spawn + 1 on gerard - deploy thrasher, cast thrasher, qc trap
T5 10 mana +1 on spawn + 1 on gerard - cast sea with thrashers, qc viridian lance in corner
T6: 9 mana + 2 on spawn + 2 on gerard

I have no doubt that this will never go as planned, as with may games lol, but that's the idea so far

naiya mid to late game to cast songs, dissolve, rust, etc
have the skeletons do their thing
I would ideally like to have chant of rage on an enemy with blightheat as the target, they attack, then he counterstrikes then gets to attack with his +4 to effect roll and has the bonus from the viridian lance

Ballad of courage is for gerard. If i need another quick hit he can run in and also get more gold for my pirates. He is als9 q good battlefury target for this reason too!

I read about using shift ench. to move songs around. Thought i would give it a whirl and see how it works

I also left out healing madrigal :/ That will/should be useful sice im planning to play all 4 sharks in 2 turns

To my knowledge, the ring does not give you the benefit when you spawn as it says only when your mage cast a spell, same with gerard, but that's not too big of a deal

Also, having some songs out to reveal when they try to get rid of the spanwpoint is ideal but trying to find the time and mana for them atm is a struggle

that's the idea anyway, like I said this is an alpha and I am going to do some editing after playing a few games this weekend.
I know i need anti flyer tech, gravikor or maim wings. I also want to throw in an agony or 2.
Since the skellies will get -1 from the sea and +1 from the lance, agony will be useful. It also helps keep them alive longer since enemies also get -1 die from the sea. So i could potentially have an enemy or enemies with -3 melee while in a sea while having skelly pirates with base attack and aquatic pirates with +2 attack all on my init.

T1 - graveyard and amulet
T2 - deploy crawler, death ring, cloak
T3 - deploy venomous zombie and cast zombie minion

From there you can react to what your opponent is doing by retreating, nullify, curse item, seeking dispel, tanglevine etc. 

A closer look at some of my card choices:

Ziggurat of Undeath - This is the card this book revolves around. Cast this as far away from your opponent as possible once there are about 4-5 zombies out.  A rise again cost 3 sbp and 2 mana + X mana for a 1 time use. This cost 8 mana, so that is like casting 4 rise again cards, but it only cost 2 sbps and 1 action.  And it can be used as many times as you want in a round, provided you have the mana.  If you have 13 mana you can reanimate 2 creatures for 5 mana each and then have 3 mana to enchant, heal, seeking dispel, chant of rage, etc.  I also chose this over animate dead because it does not require a full action for a 1 time use. Sure, I could mage wand animate dead, which is a very fun trick, but animaye dead still requires a full action, cost 3 sbp, and reanimates the creature in your mage's zone.  With the ziggurat, the creature reanimates where it was killed; this is providing you with better board control because a creature turned into a zombie has the slow trait, not lumbering, and is better for them to come into play in a zone where enemies are to get the best bang for your buck. 
And, as an added bonus, for the first kill of the round you not only can reanimate that creature but you get mana on the graveyard :)

Graveyard - This is my preferred necro spawnpoint, over the libro - 1 dissolve will not take it out and it can gain more than 1 mana per turn if you kill creatures :) The graveyard also works very well with the ziggurat! You kill their creature, gain mana on the graveyard, then reanimate it.  This can be seen as a way to offset some of the mana cost for the ziggurat as it fuels your zombie horde! The wraith can also only be deployed from the graveyard, not the libro, so that is another factor in choosing this. Regardless, it is an excellent spawnpoint!

Idol of Pestilence - I would cast this card mid to late game as opposed to as early as possible like my other necro books.  The reason being is that you don't want an enemy creature to be attacked early on by a zombie and then have them die during the upkeep from the idol :(  Once you have established a good horde, throw it out.  Alternatively, if they want to focus down your ziggurat, throw it out then and it could be a distraction long enough for you to get them out of there and/or wall it off.

Chant of Rage - This is the bread and butter of this book.  This book is a very long game book and you do not want to rush your zombies in 1 at a time, no matter what kind of zombie book you run.  So, just chant of rage any creature you want and make them come to you 1 at a time.  By doing this you are almost guaranteed a zombie to kill an enemy.  I have found that the lower level zombies that I run are all pests so they are always ignored.  Chant of rage takes care of that too. Guard with a venomous zombie, chant of rage the enemy, and have the potential to have 5 or 6 dice (if the enemy was damaged before the initial counterstrike) and 2 tainted conditions on that creature.  Just from that 1 attack another zombie should be able to lumber in and kill it off if it has not died already.

Afflicted Demon - the chance to throw weak conditions on an enemy is fantastic as it helps keep the zombies alive and also works with the plague master ability.  I have him in here for that and also once he has served his purpose I can just have a zombie maul him and then reanimate him.

Temple of Light - This card cost me 6 sbp but I can afford it.  I have it in here for the extra attack as well as for a mirror match.  One nice thing about this, though, is that it also gets a bonus from the ziggurat of undeath as it is also a temple.  It's not much but every little bit helps and if i can use it to keep pressure on and get a few daze/ stuns out there then it served its purpose.

Gravikor - I recommend this for every necromancer!  Maim wings is great but for board control, I dont want to cast 3-4 maim wings so my zombies can kill creatures.  I would rather pay the mana once and have the effect all the time.  It is also a sturdy conjuration so that helps! But i highly highly recommend this in necromancer books!

Force Wave - This card works wonders with zombies! If 1 or more enemies are more than 1 zone away, just force wave your zone of zombies and then they can move in and attack. Likewise, forcewave your new zombies from the ziggurat since they are slow they cannot move and attack; this way you are not wasting a turn moving. I would say this card could be just as an important target for mage wand as mend and zombie frenzy.

Curse Item - Throw this on any equipment giving you trouble! Some targets I will throw it on are harshforge plate, mage/elemental wand, vet belt, sunfire amulet. These are just a few of the key spells I like to put this card on but it will vary game to game depending on what your opponent has. My main point for this card, though, is the range 2. With the cloak you want to stay at range 2 or greater. This allows you to punish them for their equipment without getting in range of a dissolve.

Arc Lightning - This is unavoidable and has a daze/ stun chance.  I chose this over flameblast because I dont want to have my target burn to death instead of a zombie killing it.  I also chose this over surging wave because I can target flying creatures and if they get pushed I do not want to have to chase them down, lumbering is not ideal for that situation :/

The graveyard, ziggurat, zombies, and chant of rage combo so nicely together and make the book a blast to play!  It is a long game book and requires patience, but endure that and you can have a horde maul the faces off your foes! 

And before anyone asks what i would do against a necro mirror match...i would be SOL and just have to roll with the punches until the end.

So I counted this, my physical copy, 3 times and got 120 each time but the builder continually said 122sbp. So in this book is an extra fireshaper ring and flameblast.  If I am miscalculating my mistake but add in an extra ring and flameblast.

This is my new project, atm.

The golem seems like a nice fit for this mage.

because of the nonliving and psychic immunity i took skeletal knight out.  The dps is here to benefit from demonic reward and bc he is a boss.  The big bonus is that the golem throws burn on himself each upkeep lets you fireweave it over :)
He cost the same sbp as the lord of fire, if i remember correctly and cost a little more than a dps but can roll up to 6 dice and a 6+ burn with marked for death, 5 dice 6+ burn with any other curse, rust :)

so i thought I would give him a shot and see how it goes. 12 life is kinda low but 4 armor is should come in handy - curse critical strike! But being able to fireweave from him every turn while he deals a good amount of dice himself seems like a pretty sweet deal.

Thoughts on the golem?

And I do not have the first few turns layed out yet. prob mheg and crystal t1, forge and imp or equipment t2

Creative / Ritualist - new mage idea

This my fun attempt at a custom mage and if course its a dark mage

Ritualist (Servant of Bael, Lord of Blood)
Trained in level 3 dark, 1 water, and "blood" spells [i cant think of a better term for this but for blood creatures etc]
Holy cost 3x
120 sbp
No armor
40 life
2 dice melee 9+ bleed
Channel 8
Blood bond - when you summon 1 living, non legendary creature lose life equal to the creatures level +2. You have life bond with this creature.  The blood bound creature gains blood thirsty +X where X is the creatures level and may heal 2 damage when attacking a creature with a bleed condition marker.  You only have 1 bllod bond at a time and may assign blood bond to a new target of this creature dies

Blood Spawn - when summoning a blood creature, Ritualist may pay half its mana value (rounded up) in mana and take x damage. X equals the remaining mana value left to cast the creature. This creature may spawn from the blood bound creature. If so place X bleed tokens on the blood boud creature where X is the level of the summoned creature.

Like mind control but upkeep is paid in damage taken instead of mana and if all bleeds are removed the enchantment is destroyed. Can also be dispelled.

Focus on vampires, dodge 1 if needed, sneak attack one to attack the mage, cure to get rid of a stagger so the vamp can attack, have the genie place staggers or support the vamps with melee buffs or healing. Lighting jolt for the stagger chance

T3: Tree (tree bond) or crab and akiro's favor fd on spider
T4: Spider if going with tree on round 3

from there, tanglevine and attack, get the crab out, chant of rage on a vine snapper on the other side of the map, teleport wand, or whatever is needed. the idea is to keep the spiders alive as much as possible to let them do their thing with tanglevines providing the restrained ability for more tainted chances. I tried this with a tree of life but the extra action that the vine tree gives helps so much i decided to stick with it.
snappers are there to pull through walls and bring enemies closer to the spiders.  some considerations are taking out the rouse the beasts for a clear mind?

Strategy and Tactics / Domination support

So i sat down last night and built a bunch of books for arena. I thought i would give a go at domination. Im currently set up with an orc warlord and lady beastmaster domination book. Are there any tips and tricks for domination from those with more experience? I will post the books later but right now the set ups are spawnpoints, walls, gravikor in the orc book, forcepush, cascading forcewave, a bunch of little guys for swarm. The prc is focused on goblins and slaknir and the beastmaster on redclaw and canines. Again i'll post the books when i can.  Also galaxxus is in neither book.
