Hello Mage Wars Fans!
The team is back with another installment of Mage Wars Mondays today (located online here: http://www.arcanewonders.com/arcane-wonders/mage-wars-mondays-the-chosen) and we're excited to not just talk about Domination and Academy, but also offer you a chance to name a card in an upcoming expansion of Academy!
We want you to name the Dawnbreaker's Chosen! This exciting new Legendary creature is in development at the moment, but will be included in the Priestess expansion for Mage Wars Academy, very soon after the release of the Core Set for Academy.
Do you have what it takes to please Asyra? Can you come up with the name that will live in infamy throughout the Mage Wars annals? If so, email us at dawnbreakercontest@arcanewonders.com with your suggestions!
You can enter multiple times but the the deadline for entry is July 24th. Our team will pick a set of top 10 entries, and then from those, we will randomly pick the winner and announce it at Gen Con 2015 during one of our end of day prize events we're planning. (Don't know what those prize events are? Take a listen to the latest podcast to find out!)
In addition, the winner will get a copy of the Priestess expansion, when it is released, and a copy of Mage Wars Battlegrounds Domination, for free! (including world wide shipping on us!)
We do ask that the names be appropriate for the subject matter, and Arcane Wonders will retain the rights to the name of the final chosen winner.
But, who IS the Dawnbreaker's Chosen you ask? Here's the stats of this Legendary Knight:

As you can see, we're still awaiting the artwork, but know that this Knight is designed to be so pious and blessed that small creatures are of no consequence to this legendary being!

Is his attack "greatsword" or "Hammer of Judgement"? According to the podcast it's greatsword, but the card image says "Hammer of Judgement"

Yes, you can send as many names as you like in one email to enter each one :)

As we mentioned, he's still "under development" and the card changed from the time we recorded the podcast to the time we posted this in terms of the attack name ;)

Wow!! Now that's some nice art. My wife might need to switch from Beastmaster to Paladin when it is released... although I'm not sure I can pull her away from her wolves and bears, especially with all the new options that Academy opened up.
*edit* Was a name chosen, or is the contest still running? "We decided to open the contest up for another two weeks." "On August 28th I’ll announce the winning name."

Oh you cheeky little buggers.....all the names I sent in were for a male knight. I very much like that I was mistaken. I applaud you Arcane Wonders, you slipped one by me. Savor the flavor my friends, next time won't be so easy :)

Hm, I think she was referred to as a he in some of the earlier development posts:
"As we mentioned, he's still 'under development'".
That said, the end result is fantastic so I'm happy to modify my submission! Possible change is, after all, what under development means.
All the art in this game is beautiful, but dleoblack consistently produces some of my favorites! :D Interesting to note that this art could have easily been the alternate Paladin as well.

Aurora = Latin for “the dawn” (also consider Northern Lights = Aurora borealis, etc); also Roman goddess of the dawn

I'm sorry, but I really must object....
This artwork is WAY too good to just be used on a creature. Why is this not being saved for the alternate Paladin? It would fit so well! Don't make me print off this picture and paste it over the picture of the alternate (or even the original) Paladin, because I will.
On a related note, when are we getting a giant 2-handed sword as a piece of equipment? I'll beg if I have to. I'm dead serious.

As long as it rolls enough dice to make taking up two slots worth it. I'd love 6 dice, but I suppose I can be content with 5. I also have a feeling that the Barbarian is going to come with a couple of 2-handed weapons.
