Situation with Fortified Position
« on: July 02, 2015, 03:24:02 AM »
We have the corporeal creature with Fortified Position in his zone, so he gain Armor +2. Its OK. But what if this creature is pushed into wall with Passage Blocked trait, which is on border of this zone? Does he still gain additional Armor +2, when he receives 3-dice attack? In rules its specified, that walls are not in a zone (zone attacks cant target walls). Does it mean that, formally, collision of this creature with a wall happens not in a zone, and on its border? In this case this creature should not receive additional Armor +2 from Fortified Position. I underatand that this creature dont go "inside the wall" at the moment of collision. Therefore he still is in the zone and gain Armor +2. Right? And then we have another situation... This creature is pushed through a wall with Passage Attack trait! I know that in this case we should first receive attack and only after that we can pass through. But again... Formally, we receive this attack when we already "entered a wall" (we are not in a zone).
Silly situation, but its really interesting to me to hear your opinions!

You are correct that walls occupy a space between zones, however creatures do not. Creatures are always in a zone, and they don't change zones until after passing through the wall. Therefore, they receive the Armor +2 from Fortified Position both for bashing attacks and wall passage attacks if they start in the zone with Fortified Position.

The Official Rules Supplement breaks down how movement works on pages 12-13.

1: Declare Move. Here you just say what you're doing and pay any cost that may be required.
2: Leave Zone Effects. Currently these do not exist, but they would be like reverse traps. An effect that happens any time you try to leave a zone.
3: Walls. This is where you encounter and resolve anything that would happen because of a wall.
4: Move to new Zone. This is where the zone your creature is in changes. Until now, the creature would still have been in the zone with Fortified Position. At this point, it will be considered in the new zone, losing and gaining effects as necessary.
5: Entering Zone Triggers. This is where things like traps and Caltrops trigger.
