use of "infinite defense"
« on: March 19, 2013, 03:50:16 PM »
Hello to all of you.

I already asked this on BGG and got answers to my question too!

But my wife and I still have a problem with the working of "infinite defense". The rules state that you can use it EVERY attack, instead of "once every round" like for the other defenses.

Now, if my opponent has "Triplestrike", how many times can I use my "infinite defense" then???
I think "one" time (I however can use it again later that SAME round for an attack from a different creature), my wife thinks every time.

Or can I indeed use it every strike my opponent does with his "Triplestrike trait"?

In the latter case I can use "infinite defense" always when an attack needs to be avoided, correct????

btw ... gratz with this fantastic game, my wife and I are addicted gamers (wargames, boardgames, cardgames) and play Magic: The Gathering since 1994 (though we stopped buying cards almost two years ago). When I compare Mage Wars to Magic (can they even be compared???) we both think Mage Wars is the top of the bill!

Well we are glad to have you ivo van herp! And you are correct, Mage Wars is the top of the bill!
Some Defenses show an infinity symbol (?). These Defenses can be used one time per attack, but can be used every time that creature is attacked.
Now Triplestrike: each additional strike is resolved, one at a time, following these 3 steps: Avoid Attack, Roll Dice, Damage and Effects. So with the avoid attack step being followed, yes you can use your defense! Happy gaming!
