Not sure if it's just a copy & paste error from the Academy expansions, but the Grimoire description claims it's compatible with either Arena or Academy:

"NOTE: THIS EXPANSION REQUIRES EITHER MAGE WARS ACADEMY OR MAGE WARS ARENA. IT IS NOT A STAND-ALONE PRODUCT."

If true, that would imply some of the existing promos might become compatible with Academy, and there won't be any conjurations in Grimoire - vanquishing hopes of a legal (and presumably errata'd version) of Ballista, among others (Wall of Poison Gas, Hidden Tunnels, etc).

was thinking the same thing.  Not only that but MOST cards simply seem too powerful for academy or have no place there.

Some other examples:

Only a few would actually fit in academy.

Maybe it is just for Arena and that description was wrong?

my guess of the ones that could fit:

- Eekamouse if bleed would be introduced (although I think the design of that card is pretty weak)
- unstable fire imp
- life link maybe
- mana vampirism possibly
- elfric's life ring
- Leather belt
- ring of healing
- Bloodthirsty/flame/lightning strike

So, in total maybe 10? I'm also guessing the description is wrong.

I agree with a lot of your list, but some things on there really do seem OP. Mana vampirism gives the mana TRANSFER +1 trait, not mana drain +1.

Life link heals your mage up to 3 damage every round and puts it on another creature. It's like a reverse version of joined strength, but three times as powerful.


Here is my list:

Eekamouse
Unstable fire imp
Bind spirit
Leather belt
Flame strike
Lightning Strike
Bloodthirsty Strike
Ring of Healing

That's only 8 different spells. Not really enough for an expansion. Either we're about to get a lot more academy promos that aren't for the priestess or warlock expansions, or the Lost Grimoire really is only for Arena.

Also, are you kidding me? Eekamouse looks like an AMAZING card for Academy!

maybe. Seems like a "[mwcard=MW1C33]Sosruko, Ferret Companion[/mwcard]"-kind of card. very nice in theory, but just never makes it into actual play because it's a bit too weak and situational. Sosruko might actually be fun in academy instead of arena.

Lost Grimore is an Arena product. I believe that is a simple typo. It is not compatible with Academy.

Typically it is 30 days after release before the cards become tourney legal.

So Laddinfance already clarified that Grimoire is Arena, but regarding the Academy promo speculation, don't forget the 2016 Dice Tower promos, all of which are designed for Academy specifically.

Is there somewhere an overview of upcoming products and estimated release dates ?

First time I hear of Lost Grimoire ... can't find anything regarding upcoming products and release schedule.
