Spanish names for mages

The only words for sorcerer are brujo and hechicero. The only words for wizard are mago and hechicero. Mago also just means mage, though. Perhaps the wizard should be called "el metamago" in spanish, rather than just, "el mago". Otherwise there will probably be confusion.

You should not rely on Google translate, those translations are wrong. Mago del Diablo does not mean necromancer, it means "mage of the devil". Also, Adramelech is a proper noun so stays the same. La bruja de Adramelech. Fuego just means fire.

While true even the proper nouns seem to be more literal than ours, ex:

La Chupacabra

The Goat Sucker.....

The "Devil" would be the one to grant the powers to raise the Undead.....so I was thinking literal on that front.

Hi ,

The more acurate translations in spanish are:

Necromancer = Nigromante
Mage = Mago
Warlock = Brujo
Sorcerer = Hechicero
Adramelech Warlock= Bruja de Adramelech

Wizard is more or less the same as Mage...so i dont know if there is a word for this one.

Those are very accurate, i would support them (i'm spanish).

Señor de la Guerra - Warlord

I will have doubts for the Forcemaster, the literal translation Maestra de la Fuerza does not feel totally natural.,, but i suppose that is what she is

Metamago has not much sense... is not equivalent as wizard at all - wizard is a comon word, as hechicero would be, but metamago would be a made up word. Neither Mago del Diablo or Brujo Fuego sound natural - a Necromancer is a Nigromante ... you can also use necromante, but nigromante is more common use. And Brujo has just the evil connotations of a warlock, black magic, wichcraft...

The problem would be for Mage, Sorcerer, and Wizard, which are pretty similar in english, and in spanish are correlated to just two words... Mago, and Hechicero. Mago should be reserved for Mage - too similar for other use :D

I think Hechicero (the one who cast spells) is the proper name for Wizard, which is the class mage. Sorcerer... which is a Sorcerer in Mage wars by the way?

Similar words to Mage/Sorcerer can be
Conjurador, the one who cast or useds spirits - conjuror in english?
Taumaturgo, sinonimous to mage, one who makes miracles or prodigys
Encantador, specialized in enchantments

The Sorcerer hasn't been released yet. It was announced in a podcast. They said he would specialize in opening portals to other realms/dimensions/whatever, and teleporting and stuff like that. He'll be trained in Dark and Arcane.

'Conjurador' seems a good name for him. 'Conjurar' has the meaning of magically bring things to existence. Like 'conjurar' demons from hell, spirits from ethereal planes, etc.

Im no linguistic expert  anyway :-)

Conjurador has the problem that is pretty similar to conjurations, which i don't now how are going to be called in spanish - 'conjuraciones' do feel rather forced translation.

ANother discussion can be opponed about translation of spell classes

Siren = Sirena

Alquimista, Hechicero, Brujo, Nigromante, Mago, Druida, Señor de las Bestias, Ocultista, Vidente, Oráculo,...

Maybe Maestro de la Fuerza. Or just Maestro Fuerza to diferenciate a bit from star wars stuff.

Maestro is what is used for jedis (maestro jedi = jedi master), or martial artist (maestro de artes marciales = martial art master)

Caballero de la Fuerza is more like Force-knight

That was kind of the idea. In English they're called Jedi knights, rather than Jedi masters.

If Jedi master=maestro de la fuerza And martial arts master=maestro de artes marciales, then maestra de la fuerza should fit the forcemaster just fine after all.
