Homestuck is about a group of friends who play what at first seems to be a role-playing game, with the fate of the universe at stake. It's a little dull in the beginning, but after that the story picks up speed very quickly.
Also, some people are ridiculously fanatical about Homestuck, but don't let that discourage you. The story is actually surprisingly very good, and not obsessive like the fanbase sometimes is.
