This deck is built with a very simple tactic in mind. Abuse the shit out of Helm of Command and Battle Fury. Oh, and maybe 4 Ballistas.

Opening is Battle Forge + Moonglow Amulet. From there, it's all about building up my buffs and waiting for the opponent to come. Early on, cast Block and make sure to end turns with at least 2 mana until I know how the enemy will attack, then decide if it's worth going for a Reverse Attack or sticking with Block for the early game as I build up my armor and damage. The primary focus is on the damage though. As soon as I hit max damage, or the enemy gets close to me, I use Helm of Command + Battle Fury, and my Dancing Scimitar to unload 16 dice worth of damage. If I have my Ballistas out, they then unload potentially 20 more dice worth of damage. If the theory works as I'm hoping, that should kill... pretty much anything. Focus is on damage over armor in case of rush attack. If the enemy isn't rushing me, or is spawning tons of enemies, then armor is focused to survive until I can land a fatal blow. At least in theory.

This is indeed a little op. Many people have complained about ballista in the past.

I believe the actual version of ballista (in lost grimoire I suspect) will be war mage or warlord only and legendary or even epic. Anyway, it will be illegal to have 4 ballistas out (at the same time).

Personally, I think that would be too much. Overlimit it, and it will become useless. If you can't protect it, you probably won't see it used at all. I think making it so you can only have 1 will cause that to happen. There has to be a way to strike a balance between too many and not enough. Right now, it can be fired once every other turn, but needs another one to protect it or it just dies easily. There has to be a way to balance between too weak and too strong. Sure, it's OP as it is, but go too far and it becomes UP. Can you think of anything that could strike a balance between the two?

I disagree completely. I have used one ballista a lot with great succes. It serves as support, not main weapon. You can always protect it with creatures or your mage, but I never had to do it because the opponent always chose to attack my creatures or mage instead.

It is also great to take down heavy armor conjurations or creatures.

You get a discount with construction yard and another one if it is demolished.

Also, I think free actions between creatures should remain very limited because your opponent cannot react. Combining weapons like that makes ridicolous combos.

Perhaps. I will admit I haven't had much experience with the Ballista.

EDIT: An alternative is increasing the number of turns between shots from 2 to 3 perhaps. Do you think something like that could help?

Then 1 ballista would suck indeed and combo's would still be too strong. The octgn version can by the way also easily be combined with the tower.  ;) try countering that.  :P

Anyway, doesnt matter. Im pretty sure we will get the updated ballista very soon.

One thing, that Halewijn didnt mention is an Unique trait as one of the possibilites. Increasing Load time seems like a very big nerf for Balista.

Maybe, but it's so cheap, and I can easily cast it in a turn, why not go all out?

Well, flying things will ignore it, strong creatures (minotaur) just try to get trough it and you find yourself in a spot, in which you spend lot of mana and actions.

And if your mage or creature is Pulled to the other side, its really hard to get back. Be careful :)

And if your mage or creature is Pulled to the other side, its really hard to get back. Be careful :)

Normally I'd use them as defenses for my Ballistas to discourage attacking them. Not only will you take damage going there, but the others can still shoot you.

Ah unique! Totally forgot that. Yeah, I bet it is unique. More logical than legendary or epic.
